    Hey ladies,

It is paranoid me again! Well, Ellie is making lots of speech like noises. Not worried about her. Allison isn't really making any speech like noises - she SQUEELS and SCREAMS. When she is happy she will have the biggest smile and just squeel at you. Is this normal? Anyone else have any seven month old squeelers? She will do the "BABABABA" noise every few days, mostly she just loves to squeel. My four year old will squeel at her and she will squeel back. Just wondering? Especailly after that doctor put the fear of her not being able to hear in me (we have an MD appointment on 6/8 and I am going to ask to be sent to a ENT then).

    Thanks!

Oh yeah, at that age mine were squealing, and babbling... they made some of the weirdest noises... they were even making farting noises, LOL

Mine are older than yours but Emma definately makes more speech like noises than Jake does. In fact she is trying to imitate words, like tickle, and hello already. Jake likes to grunt, make Donald Duck-like sounds, but he does say baba, gaga, mama, dada, with no real meaning. I think she sounds normal... paranoid you. :icon_biggrin:

Noah is constantly sqealing or screaming...it even scares Aiden b/c then he'll start yelling. Aiden doesn't squeal..he mostly laughs and makes more speech like sounds. (he's my quiet, calm, laid back one)

Mine are a little younger than yours but they make all kinds of crazy noises! Squeeling, screeching (one of my girlfriends said they sound like little teradactyls!!), grunt, etc. Often it gets quite loud in our house between the two noisy babies and our barky dogs!!

I hope it is normal....my Jacob squeals and screams in happiness all day long. Noah who is more milder (on some things) does more belly laughing. They both make sounds that are like "speech."

Mine are older, but my DS is the screamer & squealer. My DD makes plenty of other noises.

DS went through that phase around 6-7 months. We lived with my mom at the time and it drove her nuts!

DS is the more traditional speaker with baba, dada, mama. DD makes every weird nose in the book. She hums, blows raspeberries, makes a clicking sound with her tongue, does a high-pitch squeal and grunts. Sometimes I worry about her, but I thought I heard somewhere that if they can imitate your sounds, that the response neurons are working. Those neurons are the ones that are important. Whatevs - I just wish she would babble.

Oh my gosh - that's Lauren! :D She does the same thing, a lot! She started around 5 months, then stopped then started up again for a long time. She would wake up in the am and start shrieking and would all day long, just to hear herself. It used to make Emma cry which, unfortunately for Emma, I thought was kind of funny sometimes! They are now almost 9 months and she hardly ever does it anymore, only when she is super excited or trying to get my attention.

My older DD was the same way, she squealed ALL THE TIME... she has always been vocal, you still can't get a word in edgewise and she's 3 ;)

Sounds just like mine! Ainsley is my Squealer; she makes baby sounds too, but she just loves to hear herself scream!

Mine did that too. They'd get each other going and scream their lungs out. Between that and the climbing, I started calling them monkeys. DH kept asking how long it would last and I told him about 25 years  Completely normal.

FWIW, mine still get into squealing and screaming matches and they have well over 100 words now and are stringing together short sentences. It really has nothing to do with language abilities.
