Hi all, one of my girls just started spitting yesterday. She was/is a drooler, but yesterday she just all of the sudden decided to spit it out, like a camel. She'll be walking along, busy wih a toy or something, and she just spits onto the floor and moves on with her life. Anyone else's kid do this? I've never seen this type of behavior, but I figure she must be sick of all that drooling and decided to get rid of the stuff another way. Then again, I'm still wondering why she doesn't just SWALLOW it!

Mine will sometimes do that to have a puddle to play with..... I make them spit out the bath water, so I have made my own bed on that front! It probably feels neat? I hope it subsides soon!! :hug99:

Yes! Bea started it and now Ainsley will do it too. Bea does it when she's all excited or happy, and in a strange way, as a sign of affection she will spit on my arm or leg. Yuck! She goes up to things and spits on them, so it's very purposeful, not a result of drooling or anything like that. I tell her no and I have had to put her in time out for it. I know she has no idea why it's gross, but it's just something I can't have her doing.

Hey, I just noticed you live in Va Bch. We live in Chesapeake - used to live in Norfolk. Anway, I digress.

My dad used to say, "you know why babies drool, don't ya? Because they don't know how to spit". I think my dad actually knew what he was talking about!

My daughter spits when she is mad at me. I put pepper on her tongue to stop it and she asked for more because "That tickles, mommy".

That's hilarious! I think mine just does it cause she's bored. Or maybe all that drool hanging around needs to get out faster sometimes. Who knows. I don't think it's a bad behavior thing, though, so much as a "hey, that feels neat on my mouth" thing- She looks hurt when I scold her!

Yes, both of mine do... and they go in big trouble over it recently. It started as just something fun they learned, and then they spit in Nannies face!!
