After reading the responses, I feel like a failure and also that my kids are behind
Mine are 7.5 months and I am still feeding them in their bouncies - my DD can sit up unassisted, but my DS cannot yet. I put them in their swings every once in awhile, especially my DS because he loves it. Am I doing more harm than good? They hate their little bumbos...

How should I be feeding them if not in the bouncies? I am feeling really unsure right now...

Don't feel bad! The only reason I quit using my bouncy at 7 months was because they could escape from it, and it wasn't safe. Had they not figured out how to escape there is no telling how long I would have used them!

Then look at my swing response... my guys were still in it at 13 months, LOL

Jen you are doing fine!!! Once they move to eating table/finger foods you will need to feed them in a highchair, but until then, use the bouncies if they work!

We started to use the highchairs at 5 months 2 weeks. My boys did not sit unassisted until abut 8 months. I just used the shoulder and lap strap on the highchair and it held them well.

heck no! mine were 7 months when i finally moved them from their bouncies into highchairs! and i STILL use them if they've got colds & i want them in the bathroom with me while i shower (for the steam)! mine have an aquarium thing that goes over them & they use it to pull up, but have enough control now that they don't fall over. and i use my swing for ds every day! i'm a single mom & he outgrew his infant seat/carrier, so i put him in the swing in the morning while i get ready- i don't start it, but i just use it as a seat where he'll be safe & lots of times, he'll lean back & take a nap! dd is still in her carrier, so that's where she goes- don't know what i'll do when she outgrows hers!!

Veggiehead, I like reading your questions and replies because your babies were born only a week before mine and they seem to be going through the same things at the same time as our girls! :)

As for your question, we still use the Bouncy chairs for feeding them their bottles. I have always fed them their bottles at the same time so this was the easiest way once they got too big for my lap! ;) We only use the high chairs for solids. As for how long we will use them - we will probably use them as long as we can for feeding time but we won't be using them for anything else because one of our girls is starting to lean forward and I am afraid she is going to tip over. I guess another solution is to feed them one after the other. That won't work for our girls yet because they are really slow eaters and one would never wait 20 minutes for her bottle while I am feeding her sister!

Mine did not like their highchairs I tried at 5m, 6m, 7m...I feed mine in their bouners until about 9m. At 8m I began putting them in their highchairs for one meal a day and gradually worked up to every meal. They also did not like to be strapped in and once I stopped strapping them in they took to it better. Don't feel bad at all they are only 7.5 months I am sure that by 9 months they will be eating every meal in their highchairs. Start by trying one meal a day for awhile then work up to two and then three.

As for bumbos mine hated the bumbos but looooved their bouncers, they also did not sit up unassisted until 8m, we had professional pics done at 7m and we had to hold them up behind the curtain, they were fat little blobs..lol!

If you feel like a failure, then I am an uber-uber failure! I STILL give the morning bottle in the bouncies. I just stopped doing the night feeding about 2 weeks ago. I say until they aren't doing bottle feedings, do it the same way that you've found it to be the easiest.

Jen-don't feel bad! We still use the bouncies for fun, and I still feed all bottles in the boppies. We do solids in the highchairs everyday now. Neither one of my DDs is sitting, although they are just starting to do the tripod thing with some assistance.
