I was reading the Diaper post and now I am wondering if I am buying sizes that are too big?

My boys are 10 months old, 24 and 22 pounds. They were in size 4's up until about 2 weeks ago, and I moved them up to size 5 because the 4's seemed to be getting a tight around the legs (leaving red welts) and starting to leak. Is anyone else's babies in size 5 at this age/weight? Or are the diapers supposed to be really tight? We have no leakage problems at all with the size 5.

That sounds about right, we are 11 months tomorrow and about 22 and 23lbs, wearing size 4's comfortably. I can see where you would need a 5. I don't like tight diapers.

My guys around the same weight and in a Size 4 but, just like becky said, no one likes a tight diaper.

DS is about 25 1/2 lbs and in a size 4 quite comfortably. DD is 19 lbs and in a size 3. LOVE the chunky babies!!!

Our girls are 11 months old and 25 lbs 4 oz and 26 lbs 4 oz, and we've still got them in a size 4, but only in the Huggies. Unfortunately, I don't think they're going to be in them too much longer.. I don't want to go up to the next size yet! :) Hope that helps!

My DS is probably close to 24 lbs and is still in size 3 during the day and size 4 at night. I'm able to use generics during the day on him just fine but use huggies at night - just the regular size 4. Both of them fit him fine around the waist and he has a big waist.

I wonder if there is a difference in sizes between Huggies and Pampers? I noticed that several of you with similar-sized babies are in size 4 in Huggies. I just moved from 4 to 5 in Pampers. Do Pampers tend to run smaller? We've never used Huggies....

Mine have been in size 5 Huggies for about a month now. They are big babies also, about 25 lbs each.

Are you using the Pampers Baby Dry? I think they run smaller than the Cruisers, but I recently bought a box of Cruisers and noticed that they seemed smaller than before. I think Huggies run a little bigger FWIW, the girls wear size 3 Huggies (b/c I usually have a coupon) or generics at day care during the day & size 4 Pampers Cruisers @ night.

My girls are 21 and 22 lbs both wearing size 3 Huggies. I do believe Huggies run big.

Jack is almost 24 lbs and we recently moved him up to a size 5. His legs got too chunky for the size 4. Hannah is still in a size 3.

When the girls were born, they could only wear Pampers because the Huggies were too big in the legs (my girls had skinny little legs). Now they've got thunder thighs, so the Pampers aren't fitting as well as the Huggies... Also, with the Huggies, we've been able to keep them in Size 4's for longer than if they were wearing Pampers, which saves us money... HTH!

My 2 girls were 19.8 and 19.1 at their 6 month Dr. visit, so now they are probably over 20 lbs. @ 7 months. They are in a size 4 Pampers and Huggies and should soon be moving up to a 5, at least at night. Hopefully once they start being more mobile, they'll thin put, because isn't the biggest size diaper a 6!
