This may be a stupid question, but if I got up the nerve to have them try peanut butter, which I probably won't for sometime, but if I did, what should I look for as a reaction, and what should I do if there is such a reaction?

I have no idea what to look for except maybe a rash and hard time breathing. My doctor indicated that they changed the recommendations for not giving peanut butter and fish from age 2 to age 3.

I give my kiddos sunflower butter instead and they like it -- I didn't eat peanuts for the entire year I breastfed and sunflower butter was a great substitute.

I think the reaction would be pretty easy to see, if they have one. If they just have a rash, you can just call your doctor, but if they are swelling up, getting hives, or having trouble breathing, you would take them to the ER or call an ambulance. (Those are just general guidelines for possible allergic reactions, not specifically for PB. But I think the danger with PB is anaphylactic (sp?) shock, which would be indicated by the swelling and trouble breathing.)
