Does anyone have a link to a chart that states when kids should pronounce certain letter sounds? I swear I had one but now I cannot find it & I'm finding a lot of info over my head when I try to google it.

The reason I ask is because of the difference in speech between my two boys. My DS, Aiden, has very good enunciation. He can say "S", "J", & "F", but my DS, Conner, cannot. Conner's speech is not nearly as intelligible as Aiden's & at times, even we have a hard time understanding him. He's had a lot of ear infections & his enunciation and clarity did improve after tubes, but not to the extent of Aiden's. Both speak in full sentences & understand everything, so I'm mainly only concerned with enunciation type stuff.

However, in hearing other kids in their daycare class talk, I think Conner's speech is more age-appropriate. So, I'm just looking to see if anyone has a list as to when certain letter sounds should be achieved. Maybe that'll help me worry less about Conner's speech ;)....

I've never seen a speech chart before. I've sen developmental milestones charts, but nothing as specific as what sounds should be like, etc.

I know what you are talking about. I got one for my boys when they were in EI. It's just a paper that shows that certain sounds the kids made at certain ages-and it was boys vs. girls. When the kids eat lunch, I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks, Meg! I also know there are some SLP on here that may know a good link. I swore I had it bookmarked on my computer, but guess not!

Thank you, Jen! The 2nd one you linked I had found, but I got lost with it very easy. It didn't really help with the certain letter sounds, but did help with how they substitute sounds for letters...I found that interesting.

The first chart shows that my DS Aiden is right on track & actually ahead (I was shocked when it said the 'zh' sound, like measure, was 5.5...Aiden already clearly says measure! He also does "SH" & "CH"). Conner also appears right on track (but ahead in some, like "L" & "R"), just must be going for the later end of 'normal' :). After all, my boys are only 2.5.

Interesting...thank you so very much for finding a chart for me!!!!
