It occurred to me last night that I never looked up the meaning of Avery. It just kind of popped in my head one day and I fell in love with it. So I got online and looked it up on babynames.com. The first thing I saw was that it's a unisex name and the origin and meaning were exactly the same as my name. Then the very next line says "A form of Aubrey." How crazy is that? I didn't even know we were naming him after me!

I think it's cool too. I'm sure you explained this somewhere else but in your ticker it says: John "Avery" -- does that mean you are going to name him John but call him Avery? Or what?

    Just curious.

    WOW!! Thats cool!
I fell in love with the name Avery too, first heard it for a boy on tv show Murphey Brown but liked it better for a girl(as I do most gender-neutral names). Had a name picked out and everything for a couple PGs (Avery Ryann) but had 3 boys on a row so by the time I had another girl I was stuck on Chloe! LOL!

His name will be John Avery (John is my dad's first name but he goes by his middle) but we'll call him Avery.

Thanks! For the most part we call them by their full names but some family members sometimes call Alexis "Lexi" and Alana "Lala."

I think it's very cool. Avery is a cool name, it's my niece's name.

That is really cool! It's definitely a unisex name though, becoming more and more popular. My mom has a friend whose granddaughter's name is Avery. Morgan's middle name is Avery...the little boy next to my girls in the NICU was Mason Avery...and since then I've seen it a lot for a boy's first name.
