How do your 2 year olds eat spaghetti? Mine have a hard time eating it with their forks and I end up feeding it to them. Do your kids eat it with their hands or forks or with help?

    Thanks

We do rotinii noodles instead of Spaghetti since it's easier for them to hold and me to clean up, but if I have leftover real spaghetti from me and DH, then I feed it to them. I don't have all day to vacuum and scrub the walls down after that craziness.

Until last month (yes last month), I have always given K&K ziti with lines. It is easy to eat because they can put their fork through the hole, of course the challenge was always to get two at a time.

Right now mine just eat it with their hands and make a big mess, but it's cute, so we strip them down to their diaper and make sure we only eat it on bath night. They love it!

I can't remember how my oldest DD ate spaghetti at 2 years though, sorry.

We also do the rotini noodles but if I do wind up making or serving spaghetti, I'll take my kitchen scissors (the ones I use for cooking) and cut up the noodles until they are about 1/2 inch long. That makes them easier to scoop with a fork or spoon.

I cut Melissa's, but Jade won't let me, she like 'em "big" so she slurps and uses her hands and makes a big mess. Oh well.

At that age hands. I just would go a little lighter on the sauce. It would still be messy but not terrible.

At that age most of the time I cooked smaller noodles (ziti, rotini, farfalle). They could pick those up easier with a fork. They like regular spaghetti too but we still cut it up for them. It's neater and less frustrating for all of us. :)

We cut it up small and they eat it with spoons. And, like Michele said, we went very light on the sauce.

  10. Girls eat it with forks. Boys eat it with a spoon. The boys never eat with their clothes on so we do not have to use thirty gallons of SHOUT washing clothes. We have spaghetti almost once a week so I guess they are used to it.

My twins...love love love...spaghetti..anything with red sauce. I have also gotten in the habit of making penne or rotini or something like that so that they can eat it easier.

I cut it up very small and give them a spoon. At first they used to just use their hands and then slowly started using the spoon. Typically they still where a bib or are stripped down when they eat any pasta! LOL

We cut it up a bit. They sometimes use their forks, but if they can't get get the pieces, they use their hands. We tend to give them elbows, ziti or rotini more often.
