I work with computers all day so I sit a fair amount. When I get up from sitting for so long I feel ALOT of soreness in my lower abdomen. At first, I just assume that I was getting up too fast. And then I thought I wasn't sitting correctly on my work chair. However, it seems to be getting worse and now my lower back feels sore. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and am getting a bit concerned as this only started 2 weeks ago and is getting progressively worse. Anyone else experience this?

I do feel pain in my lower abdomen, ESPECIALLY after sitting in one position for a long time. If I have to do computer work at home I sit on a huge exercise ball and that helps. Mine has not been getting progressively worse. I'm sure it will soon as I've heard this is just one of the many joys of a twin pregnancy. I would check with your doc at your next appointment unless it's really bothering you - then I'd call today. Sorry I'm not much help.

I am on strict bedrest, but with my first son I had a computer job, and had to sit in one place for hours at a time. I started getting the worst side pain. I'd get up and stretch, but by the end it was a constant. I'd talk to you doc and see what they say.

I have had this pain off and on but now that I am "popping" it has been more regular. I have found the following things help, (1) I try and get away from my desk and walk around at least once per hour. (2) I try and not let my bladder get full as the pain gets really bad (3) I stretch and change positions a lot from straight postrure to total slouch. I feel like my core is weakening and causing thepain but considering crunches are a thing of the past this pregnancy am not surprised. A weak/sore core also causes back pain. If it is really bad talk to your doc.

I thought sitting would be a good alternative to standing all day . . . but sitting is usually more uncomfortable for me, especially after a long time. I went to a retirement dinner for a colleague and after sitting for over an hour straight I had to stand for a few moments before walking because my lower abdomen hurt so much. It seems to be mostly on the sides and goes from my pubic bone to right inside my hips. I did ask my doctor about it and she said it is muscle stretching and nerve compression. She didn't seem too concerned but it doesn' t hurt to ask either.

Thanks for all of your replies! This makes me feel infinitely better that I am not the only one experiencing this soreness/pain. I will definitely talk to my doctor at my next appointment, unless it gets noticeably worse and worrisome.

I remember that feeling exactly. Whenever I was sitting at my computer at work for a long period of time, when I stood up I would have a ton of pelvic pressure. Then if I went to the bathroom it was even more pressure. Right around that time is when I had to stop working because I would be so sore when I got home from work.

I sit all day at a computer also. I do notice if I sit with my feet on the floor I am more bent at my lower abdomen and have the same pain. Now I have a box under my desk and put my feet up. This relaxes that area for me and I do not get the pain in my stomach, as for my lower back, that is another story. Honestly, I just try and rotate the positions I sit in every once in a while so that no on place is under stress for that long.
