Sore legs?

So this is a new one to me in the last few weeks- my legs feel sore when I stand up, walk, climb stairs, etc for no apparent reason. Before I became pg, I was a regular runner and this is the kind of soreness I'd feel the day after an 8 mile run.
I have gained maybe 17 pounds so far. Could it be the extra weight? Or somehing to do with blood flow?
This is one pregnancy symptom I hadn't heard of...anyone else?

My leg muscles ache quite a bit when I'm pregnant. Usually the only fix is having DH rub them and most of the times it hurts. Hope you find some relief.

Mine get so tired from grocery shopping that I feel the need to take tylenol to find the slightest relief. I've gained little weight, so I don't think it is the weight gain. I think it is the extra blood flow. I'm not retaining water, so I know my legs aren't swollen either. I think it is just part of being PG!

I was just thinking about posting this today, my leg has been so sore today. My knee especially hurts and then it aches through the rest of my legs and sometimes my arms ache to. I think it is unfortunately just part of being pregnant.

My legs have been especially sore for the last month or so, off and on. Its always worse at night when I'm lying down, they just ache. Not sure what exactly causes it, but I'm pretty sure its the added pregnancy weight, and they're just not used to hauling around this wide load!

Okay, not sure this is the same complaint but starting today I am having trouble lifting my legs. I have to manually lift them to get moving - I am just shy of 36 weeks and I know that baby a is very low so I am wondering if she is on a nerve or something. I've got my hubby worried but when I am lying down I feel okay. Walking is terrible and I am thinking I may be housebound if this continues (I was hoping for another week or two to get stuff ready! I know that may not be a possibility. Just wonder if anyone has heard of this?

Maybe someone will know the answer to this, but doesn't it have something to do with a hormone we put out to relax the muscles and joints to start "stretching" out for the delivery? That's what I thought it was, but I might be confusing my topics?

Personally, my legs have times and moments where I cannot move them. I've asked my doc and my orthopedist and here's some of the answers I recieved:
Relaxin (the hormonal chemical that your body releases that makes everything stretch)
    Increased blood volume
    Increased blood flow
    Weight gain
    Baby position (to cause "waddling")
Pelvic tilting (can be helped with Pelvic Tilt exercises)
Over-exercising (keep in mind that just walking is stressing your body like running does because of the increased blood and size)
Under-exercising (allowing the muscles to become tense or atrophy)
Water-based swelling (can be influenced by diet-sodium, MSG, lack of water)
Walking type (waddling vs. walking, height of leg lift of foot off floor)
Shoes (slippers vs. tennis shoes, heels vs. flats)
    Pelvic pressure

I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two, but needless to say, no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in, chances are good that your legs (especially joints) are going to feel it. Sorry.... we have to just tough this one out. Though tylenol, warm baths, and massages all help.... and chocolate. I've found chocolate always cures what ails me (except Gestational diabetes, but that's a separate saga!) :)

    Hugs,
    Dominique

I think its the swelling as well as the additional weight. Even my knees hurt if I walk too much, and shopping is a definite no no for me now. I also read that our tendons and nerves tends to weaken a little during pregnancy, perhaps that's the reason too?
