I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience after pregnancy? When I was pregnant I had the typical achy joints in my fingers and hands but now (almost 3 months post partum) when I wake up in the morning my joints in my hands/fingers, legs and feet are SOOOO sore and achy I can barely walk....it has me a little concerned. I am also very sore in my muscle from lifting the babies, and squatting down to pick them up so much but this pain is different than muscle pain....it seems like it is in my joints rather than in my muscles. Should I be concerned?

My knees bothered me more AFTER I had the twins. It was so odd and I had lost most of the weight. I actually wondered if because I was so miserable at the end of the pregnancy that I just didn't notice the knees. Who knows. But at some point ... and I have idea when but they are 4 months old ... they just stopped hurting. I think it's your body adjusting to not being pregnant with twins and now hauling around twins all day long. JMHO.

Your ligaments get stretched out during pregnancy and it does take time for them to go back to normal as they are not normally super elastic. Some muscle degenaration from the inabilty to exercise during pregnancy is common esp. if you were on bed rest and could not do lots of physical activity. I think we unintentionally put our body through the wringer during and after giving birth, and it is just hard for our bodies to keep up all the time, without enough rest in between. This is hard enough with one newborn let alone 2. My Dr. told me to refrain from any exercise that put alot of stress on my joints such as jogging, aerobics, etc. but things like swimming were ideal. I also notice more achiness in my joints after the twins, so blame I the pregnancy, my general out of shape self and and aging. You may want to call your Dr. if it becomes painful or constant problem and is causing such difficulty with daily activities.

I had this after pg too! It was very uncomfortable and I remember wondering if I was ever going to feel normal again. Mine went away at about 4 months after the babies were born.

Thanks for posting I am totally having problems with achey joints and muscles right now! I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with the C-Section (my first was natural) but I guess maybe it's from carrying the babies for so long. Lately it feels like I have muscle soreness from working out - and I haven't been.

I had this also after the twins, and unfortunately it never went away. I have just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/Chronic fatigue. I would give it awhile and if it does not go away, I would definitely see your doc. I am on Cymbalta for the pain, and it really helps. It's the worst in the morning when I first get up, when I get up after sitting for awhile, and at night(the meds have worn off by then).

It's not an exersized muscle type pain, it's a joint pain, back pain, that involves muscle spasms. It's really hard to explain, but I ache all over! I also have headaches and some other symptoms.

How crazy, I thought I was the only one. I had the pain in my feet and my wrists. My feet were HORRIBLE first thing in the morning...like every little bone in my foot hurt...I would limp around. And my wrists were like a carpal tunnel pain and sometimes would get "stuck" in a certain position. I still have it to a certain degree, but not as bad as it was. Can't quite remember when it started to get better.

I've been researching thyroid problem symptoms, and carpal tunnel pain came up as one, which was interesting. I'm going to have my thyroid checked in a couple weeks because I've got other symptoms (which also could just be post partum stuff), but it's in my family and Tiana was born with congenital hypothyroidism. They told us it "just happens" and has nothing to do with family history, but I'm not so sure. So I'm getting checked to be sure.

I suffered this too and afterwards. My knees are still a little sore but i needed surgery on my wrists. It was a spinn off from carpal tunnel syndrome. It does get better though

I had this too and it does get better but my girls are 8 months and my back and hips still hurt really bad when I get out of bed in the mornings or if I sit in one position for to long.

I was on bedrest for 2 months and never had time to get any of that muscle back (and I was trandelenberg, on a 45 degree angle with my head down, which destroyed my hips/knees). I'm starting physical therapy next week, because every muscle and joint hurts and I just can't take it anymore. Especially now that the babies are 12 and 13 pounds--that's a lot of weight to haul around. Just getting up off the ground hurts!

Talk to your doctor about getting a referral for physical therapy. They'll work you out, hopefully make you feel better and at least give you a little time to focus on you!

I have the soreness and achiness in my hands pretty bad- feels like what I am sure an 80 year old with arthritis feels like at times!!!
My hip is usually pretty sore too- I got sent to and Ortho for it, and he says it is the muscles being tight, and need to be stretched. All thanks to the hormones of pregnancy!
