Have anyone of you used one? On some of my other birth boards people just swear by them. If you did use one, did each twin have his/her own? I am thinking about an easter basket item and looking for opinions before I order

I am interested in hearing peoples' opinions about this item - I wonder if they are worth the price.

ETA: baby on lap caused me to misspell.

I am totally not one to buy into the hype about a product, but I found a good deal on Sophie last fall and got two for my boys. OMG it is hands down their favorite thing. I think they might love Sophie more than they love me. I have no idea what it is that makes her so great, but that giraffe is my go to toy when I need them quiet and happy. In fact she's already tucked into their carseats for them to play with at church later today.

I thought about getting them but 20.00 is alot for a teether. I thought about going down to the pet store and finding a rubber dog toy for them!!

:rotflmbo: I must admit that I too have wondered what is so darn special about that toy. But I know they get great reviews. I see that they are on sale for $14.95 at Amazon right now w/ free shipping....I might go ahead and order them some. Sigh.

I just bought 2...would like to get them in time for Easter but I'm not going to pay $5.50 shipping on top of the $30! so I chose the free shipping option. My boys better like them or I'm never falling for another over-hyped toy again! ;)

My boys really like their Sophies. I bought 2, but like everything else, they just switch back and forth so I wouldn't say they each have their own. The only thing I don't like about them is that it's difficult to tether them to the stroller. On more than one occasion I've had to trace my steps to retrieve a thrown Sophie!

Check ETSY- they make "sophie leashes", like pacifier clips... I ended up making my own and now I don't have to chase that damn giraffe all over the place with the girls get in a throwing mood.

Personally I avoided the Sophie hype- I mean come on! It's a glorified dog toy! Right?.... However someone gifted us ONE sophie and my girls were hooked! They love this teether. It must be the long legs and neck and the ease in which they can grab it. My girls are a year old and they still play with Sophie on a daily basis.
I've debated buying a second one, but never got around to it and now that my girls are older, I probably wont buy one. But if you're on the fence- buy one. They really are worth the hype.

Yup, Sophie's worth the hype for my twins. We got Sophie and also Chan Pie Gnon (made by the same company) and the kids love them both.

Oh me tooooo! Grrrrr! Then I started smushing Sophie's head through a link-a-doo so I could tether her to the stroller. Works like a charm!! :good:

My boys have them, they were hand me downs from my twin nieces. I wondered what all the hype was about and just put them out on the floor for them to play w one day and they were both all over them. There's something about those giraffes ;)

I know I bought Sophie because she's made of natural rubber and non-toxic paint. I would never give my kids a dog toy-probably made in China and no standards. Neither of mine are really hooked on Sophie (I bought 2) but I had to stop taking them to the Y because EVERYONE has them now and there is always confusion.

Their favorite toy/ lovie/teether are their Käthe Kruse towel dolls the twins each have Bears and my 3 year old had/has a Bunny These "dolls" are the best- made of natural fibers, cotton and flannel and their heads are stuffed with natural fleece. My baby girl loves her "Huggy Bear" and will often chew on the knots when her teeth are bothering her. (as intended).

Basically Sophie is made of natural materials and this is why all the hype started but I think it has now just become the trendy must have toy. I'd buy her again though- really $20 not going to break the bank (a good gift item too)

I was debating getting the Sophie teether but came across some online literature that suggested there might be a choking hazard so I decided to get this Canadian made teething product instead - the Ringley. Don't want to alarm those with Sophies already or those getting some because there hasn't actually been a recall or anything like that but after reading the story on this blog I decided not to get the Sophie teether. Even though it was reviewed by Health Canada and eventually put back on the shelves it was hard for me to purchase it knowing there were a few cases where children had choked on it. Again, just wanted to share what I had found doing some online research and this is not meant to dissuade you from purchasing it.
