This is my 4th pregnancy and I am early (10) weeks. I am just so tired all the time. I've been getting smacked by fatigue and weakness, sometimes suddenly. Is this because of twins. I haven't been pregnant in. 8 years but I don't remember feeling so blah. Any words of wisdom? I see doc Monday so I can ask him too but I feel women who have been there know more. Thanks!

Lol I'm only 12w3d, but I got hit by the fatigue bat at about 7.5 weeks. No other children so I have nothing to compare it to but I've heard twins can cause extreme fatigue (creating 2 little beings out of not much is a lot of work!). For me it turned out partially due to my thyroid being a little off, but when they fixed my medication it only helped for a few days then I was back to a lot of fatigue. Just take it easy and nap when you can. Can't hurt to mention it to your doc too just so he knows. GL

I agree it's worth mentioning to your doc, but it does sound par for the course to me. Both of my pregnancies had coma inducing 1st trimesters. The first time I could sleep as much as I wanted to so it didn't seem so bad - this time around, I already had two to take care of so couldn't always sleep when I wanted/needed to (although we did play an awful lot of games that creatively involved me lying on the couch while the girls brought me things or "listened" to the baby ). It was a long slog to that 2nd trimester energy boost.

With the boys I was unbelievably tired. Like- falling asleep on the couch after work, woken by DH with food and barely eating it before falling asleep again. I'd move into the bedroom and go back to sleep. I probably slept about 12-14 hours those days after work. Sometimes I'd nap at work on my lunch 1/2 hour and eat at my desk.

This time I do get tired, but it's nothing like back then. I sleep 10 hours and nap a little and I'm tired but it's not the soul-crushing  tiredness that I was with the boys.

I was and am the same as everybody else. My doctor increased my iron intake so am on double iron pills per day (not so great for bowel movements tho :) as my blood count came back with very low iron levels... I still nap almost every day though..

I was anemic with the boys and am now again.

    How are your iron levels?

My iron was good 5 weeks ago but I don't know what it is now. Does the 2nd trimester get any better?

I felt better in my second tri, not sure about the other girls though.

It took awhile for me to feel better- I want to say closer to 15 weeks. :(

I am just starting to feel my energy come back @ almost 14 weeks and it reminds me what it feels like to have it. I intend to enjoy it now, while I lasts...

I got worse during my second tri, but I wonder if that's because I could hardly walk by that stage for the pelvic pains... for me I'm only now just feeling better and I only have a few more weeks to go....

I meant to also before that it was explained to me (when I questioned the need for so much iron - hate taking them damn pills) that because of two babies, they are taking double the amount of blood (and therefore iron) out of you...

Keep resting whenever you can, even if it's just to put your feet up for a little while

I was exhausted from 24 weeks until I delivered but that was mostly due to my anti contrax meds. They slowed down your heart so therefore making you feel like a zombie.
