My twins will be one in a few weeks and DS is in the process of giving up his bottle altogether. This is a kid who used to suck down 8 oz four times a day with no problem. Now he refuses the first bottle in the AM, will eat anywhere from 3-5 oz in the next 2 bottles, and usually sucks down 4-5 oz before bed. He'll eat solid food instead, plenty of solid food!, but he just doesn't want his formula. I've tried putting formula in a sippy cup, but he wants no part of it. I'm wondering if I should go ahead & try giving him milk now? He has allergies so I was hesitant to introduce milk too early, but if he's not drinking anything else....

Btw, he weighs 25 lbs so he's not gonna starve anytime soon, but I still worry nonetheless.

Yes, some dr's suggest milk at 9 months old, if they are ready. You're son definitely sounds ready to go to 3 sippies of milk with each meal and water or a little bit of juice with snacks. If you are unsure, you can call the pedi and ask too.

I switched the twins at 11 months to milk and they liked it so much better.

It sounds to me like he is ready to switch! I'd run it by your pedi before you do it though.

Talk to your pedi first about switching to milk (especially since he has allergies). But if he is getting most of his nutrition from solid food that is great and normal! I'd let him drink whatever amount of formula he wants from the bottles, and make sure he has water in sippies to keep him hydrated. He's probably pushing the bottles away because he isn't hungry!
