My girls call them their soo soo's. They are 3.5 years old and STILL use them. Granted, they only use them at night, but they still need them.

    BUT

I think it is time. Time for the fairy to come and take them away. I am thinking in a week or so. I am mentally preparing them for what is about to happen. I keep telling them the soo soo fairy is coming in a couple weeks and we have to gather all the soo soo's for her. They will get a present in return. I hope this works but I am so nervous because I KNOW it is going to be a huge issue.

Good luck! We took our boys' away when they were about 2 1/2 (they kept stealing DD's when she was a newborn). They called them BB's, we just told them the BB's were going away and they couldn't have them anymore. I hope it goes well for you, I think that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! I vowed not to let my other kids keep them that long, hoping it would be easier to get them away, it worked with DD so we'll see when the babies get older.

Good luck and keep us posted! I hope it goes well. I have really started to think it might be time for my 2 as well, but I am still building up the courage to actually do it!

We just did it last weekend, and well, since I'm in the middle of the worst of it the jury's still out for me as to the success overall. But I say do it. Definitely at 3.5. Let us know how it goes.

One lady on this site recently had a greta idea. She tied them to balloons and set them free. Good luck.

It probably won't be as bad as you think. I took Gabe's at 3, when the dentist fussed at me for him still using it. (at nap and bedtime only) I just told him as the week went on that we were going to throw all the pacis in the trash on Friday and that's exactly what we did. I think he asked for it on Saturday at nap time and I reminded him that we threw them away and he's not asked for it since.

My best friend took pacis away from her 4 year old twin boys and her 3 year old girl a couple of months ago, same way. No real problems.

I wish you the best of luck, try to keep a positive attitude!

Good luck! We gave up binkies about 3 weeks ago. I was prepared for a terrible time, but they gave them up pretty easily. We told them for about a week that big girls did not need binkies and that they were big girls so the binkies would be going away soon. Then, we just took them away. We had very little problems. The worst for us was when we were driving to my mom's for Easter weekend (a five hour drive) and Elizabeth wanted her binkie. That was the first time she had asked for one since the day after we got rid of them. I also got them a stuffed animal to give them after their first binkie-free nap. We congratulated them for being big girls and gave them stuffed Pablo's from the Backyardigans. They love Pablo!

good luck, my boys didn't take a bippy(that's what we call it) but my other 3 did, the girls where about the same age and they wanted to wear lipstick so i told them if u want to wear lipstick u can't have a bippy it will mess up the lipstick, so we went to the store & bought the brightest lipstick we could find and they wore it all the time & never wanted a bippy again...lipstick was more impotant @ the time.it only took about 5 days or less...i let them even wear it to bed..it worked for us..and my gavin just threw it away on his own..he was easy.

i dont know, i think you might be pleasantly surprised. If you met my nephew when he was 3 years old you would think his pacci was attached to his mouth, he had it in all day long everyday.

one day the 'pacci monster' came and took all his pacci's and he was FINE with it, i couldnt believe how well he went, i dont think he asked for it once after that.

  10. We didnt make a big deal about it. Right after she turned 2 we told her that big girls dont use "suckers". She asked for it a couple times, but we reminded her that she is a big girl now. As far as Nuby's....thats a different story. We can't seem to kick that habit.

I loved this idea! How cute. She said something like they were going to the other new babies who now needed them or something like that. Was that you Marieber??

My boys started to "chew" off the nipples at 17 mo. I noticed one of them one day with a tear and picked up the others and almost all of them had tiny tears. So.... I pulled off the nipples and showed them that they were "broken" They were so cute and took them to bed anyway with the little "stub" and decided it wasn't worth it! They were young enough that it was ok very quickly. Good Luck with your girls. ~Mary~

We did away with ours at about that age. They used them more than yours did. The binky fairy came and left them a present. We had two really bad nights and that was it. Hayley did worse than Brianne. Brianne was more attached to hers so I thought it would be the other way around. Good luck!
