I dont normally give the boys meds but Dylan has been coughing for a few days.
We have done Vicks on the feet and chest which normally works, We have a cool mist humidifier and its not helping either.

The poor child cant sleep b/c hes coughing all night and throwing up b/c hes coughing so hard.

Dylan is almost 3 and weighs 30lbs.

    what can i give him?

Sudafed works great and that's what I use for nighttime.

For daytime I use tylenol cough and cold or motrin cough and cold.

I usually will half the dosage if it starts off at 6 years old. It's what my pediatrician told me to do.

I like honey with lemon juice. Warmed in a cup in hot water not in the microwave. It soothes the throat and works wonders. This is my mom's remedy that I have used since I was a kid (and believe me that was a LONG time ago).

If the honey and lemon doesn't work for the girls, I usually use Robitussin. I use the dosing on the bottle, or check with Ask Dr Spock. com for a weight/dose chart. Its been a while since mine were that size so I'd have to look up how much to use.

I love lemon w/honey although I usually just use a tsp of honey for bedtime and/or middle of the night wake ups. My ped recommends Delsym for coughs. It works very well for my 6 y/o and most other people I've recommended it to. My ds started using it around your kids' age. Only one person I've recommended it to said it didn't work for her ds.

Good luck. We're fighting coughs & runny noses right now too.

Someone suggest using a Triamenic (sp) strip.. Dh is at the store and says its 6 and up. the website says 4 and up. but the person who said they used it was giving it to children between 1-2 years old. I pmed her.. maybe they have a toddler one??? or shes using half a strip??? IDK

ETA: I ahve been giving him tea with honey.. and I gave him some cough and cold dm thing last night and it did not help at all:(
