Did your pedi go by actual or adjusted age for starting solids?

Just stopping by from the 0-1 year forum to ask, did you pediatrician go by adjusted or actual age to start solids? Mine is going by actual age. Mine were 2 months early, and the WIC dietician seems to think this is not the best thing.

We started rice cereal at 4 months and are going to veggies and fruits at 5 months. I'm curious when others started solids, and if this varies by whether they were premature.

    Thanks!

I voted actual, but we did wait an extra month since they were preemies. Our ped usually starts cereal at 4 months and fruits/veggies at 5 months. With the twins, since they were preemies, we waited until 5 months for cereal and 6 months for fruits/veggies. They were 3 months early so that was not adjusted age though.

I voted actual but my girls weren't preemies. I started cereal at 4 months and fruit/veggies at 5 month. If you are concerned about starting solids then I would hold off, you know your babies better then a pedi or a WIC dietitian. You could always start and see how they do, and if they have problems stop and continue later. Go with you mommy instincts. :) Good luck

Their doctor went by actual, I went by adjusted age for solids. I didnt start anything until they were 9 months old.

Our kids were huge for their age. So at 4 months our pedi had us start solids.

We started at 6 months with solids with actual age (full sized at birth).

We got the ok to start solid foods at around 4 months actual age (my girls were born at 33 weeks 6 days). I did wait a little longer. But not much longer.

With the twins we waited to start anything till 6 months. They were born at 36 weeks. Cody will start some cereal at 4 months, but he is so much bigger than the twins ever were.

We started at about 6 months, because of the possibility of food allergies more than their age. I did some research & it said that infants that are introduced to solids too early tend to have allergies to food, even at 6 months old my Olivia got rashes and was intolerant to dairy. I would hold off on solids until they are older, don't rush.
