They have been getting cereal in their bottles for months now for acid reflux. At the beginning of May our GI specialist said to go ahead and start them on baby food and build up to 3x a day. Ds is doing great with it. Dd, not so great. We have tried different spoons, with cereal and without and making it into a fun game. I think she actuallly likes pears because every now and then I can sneak a spoonful in and she doesn't spit it out as much as the other flavors. We have also tried skipping a few days and then going back to it. It did not make a difference. It is just funny because she showed and still does the same signs that she was ready as ds. Any tips? Thank.

Does she like to put toys and stuff into her mouth? Ours weren't really very interested in solids until we started using the Gerber Lil Dippers (a stubby handle with a grooved paddle at the end) -- I dipped them in food and handed them to the girls. They loved shoving the tip in their mouths, and then they figured out the whole food thing. After a week or two, we went back to spoons and they ate enthusiastically.

I would just keep trying, some are quicker to take to solids than others! Does she automatically stick her tongue out when you put the food in?

Yes she does stick things and her hands in her mouth, maybe I will try what you suggested. I am sure that is going to be messy though. LOL She sometimes sticks out her tongue, mostly though she turns her head so I cannot get the spoon even near her mouth.

I started solids at 6m and they spit most of it out, don't stress out I started with one meal gradually working up to 2 and 3.

One of my girls does the exact same thing, but she also cries with it, she just doesnt want it. I have tried every fruit they are allowed to have, and she likes none of it. My other daughter will eat, but does not seem to like it either. Its very frusterating, is'nt it?

DD is having the same issues with C&C. They are good with fruits and vegetables but want nothing to do with the cereal. They both make faces as if she is torturing them :)

just another example of although they are twins they are individuals who do things at different rates. it is SO hard not to compare! sounds like DD is just needing more time to get used to solids, some babies take to it right away while others need to get used to it, it is something new and completely different than what they are used to. think about it, all you get is milk milk milk for 6 mo and then one day some puts this thick stuff in your mouth, what is it? what do I do with it? do I like it? A lot of babies take awhile to get used to texture too. my DD could eat just about anything texture-wise, but my nephew who is 2 mo younger gagged on anything with texture until he was almost 1yo
have patience and just keep offering to her and she'll come around when she is ready.
also, you might try sticking with the same fruit or veggie until she gets used to it, (the pears are great b/c they are easy to digest)before trying a new one and don't expect her to eat much at first, one spoonful for her to start is success!
