What do you do? Right now ours looks like this:

    6:30 - cereal (about 1/4 cup)
    12:30 - veggie - 1 container/jar each
    3:30 - fruit - 1 container/jar
    6:15 - 1/2 jar meat & 1/2 jar veggie or just 1 container/jar veggie

Of course they get about 25 oz. of formula throughout the day also. Should I be adding more solids? Is there a guide somewhere for this? They do really good with solids. ALso, this is all baby food - should I try yogurt and other stuff?

We must have been typing at the same time. I just asked a similar question, LOL.

Our feeding schedule is about like this:

    7 AM: 8 oz bottle
11 AM: 5 to 7 oz formula (I offer 8, they rarely finish it)
12:30: 1/4 cup cereal (mixed with formula), 1/2 jar fruit or veggie
3:00: 3 to 6 oz formula (offer 8, almost never finish it)
6:30: 1/4 cup cereal (mixed with formula), 1/2 jar each of two veggies (so one full jar's worth), I also let them play with Puffs after dinner, but they rarely get one in their mouths--so I don't think it counts
    7:00: 3 to 8 oz formula

We try to get 24 oz. of formula in them per day between bottles and cereal. Some days are better than others. They really prefer solids at this point. Plus they are trying to hold their bottles, but they are really bad at it. So a lot of formula gets spilled.

I also tried giving them a little smushed banana; but they weren't ready. Finn almost choked. But I have found that they like, and do well with, dried apple crisps. They are big enough to hold in their hands, but they dissolve pretty well. I'm not talking about regular dried apples, which are pretty chewy and probably would be too difficult for babies this age. These are super dried (I buy them at Costco in a big box of individual serving sizes). The only ingredient is apples, and they are dried, not fried; but they have kind of a crispy texture (almost like really thin styrofoam, which sounds gross, but they are pretty good--I eat them all the time). Anyway, I watch them like a hawk when they have them just to make sure they don't choke; but they really seem to like them and they can hold them themselves (haven't quite got the pincer grasp yet).

I find the food thing to be the most challenging thing for us right now...of course, there's also the teething and the trying to crawl....nevermind, it's all challenging ;)!

At 7 months all of their nutrition should come from the formula. We were only doing 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner) plus at least 5 bottles at 7 months. Personally I would drop the 3:30 fruit and offer a bottle but that is just me. Let me grab a link from the handbook for 7 month schedules. Maybe one will help you.

Too funny Jenn! Claire loves smashed bananas. Madison not as much.

Thanks for that link Rachel, we do give them a bottle at the time of fruit. Our pedi wants them to have fruit and they love it.

My schedule: (they split the solids and DS has 7oz bottles and DD 6oz)

    7am 6-7oz bottle
8am - breakfast (one jar fruit plus cereal and yogurt or formula)
    11am - 6-7oz bottle
12pm - lunch (one jar veggie, sometimes fruit)
    3pm - 6-7oz bottle
6.30pm - 6-7oz bottle then dinner (one jar veggie plus meat or cereal or formula and cereal)

I don't really see the need for a 3pm solid feeding. For now a bottle is fine, and I'll add a snack when they start finger foods.

Really, you can go by what your babies want at this point. If they seem content w/the schedule you have now and the foods you're feeding them all is fine. Per my Pediatrician he said it really doesn't matter until 12 months. My kids happen to love solids so I feed them 3x a day and they are 7 1/2 months too. Breakfast is rice cereal mixed w/fruit, lunch is 1/2 container veggie and 1/2 fruit, and dinner is couple spoons of meat mixed w/veggie and rice cereal. They gobble it up! Sometimes they want more, sometimes less - I go by their cues. Though I too have wondered about starting them on yogurts, finger foods etc. Ok, so maybe I'm not much help, but really my point is the first year as long as their getting exposed to different foods/flavors textures all is good. =)

My girls are nearly 8 months adjusted age. This is our schedule right now:

    6:45 a.m. - 6 oz. bottle at home
7:45 a.m. - cereal and fruit at day care
    10:00 a.m. - 6-7 oz. bottle
    11:00 a.m. - meat and veggie
    2:00 p.m. - 6-7 oz. bottle
5:00 p.m. - meat and veggie at home
    6:30 p.m. 6-7 oz. bottle
    6:45 p.m. bed

We do extra meat because their iron level is a bit low. We don't do any yogurt right now because the Pedi told DH to wait until 11-12 months. I'm perplexed about that, but I haven't had time to call the doctor for clarification.
