We recently started solids (other than cereal) and I know the 1 per week rule but it seems like they will never build up many foods. At some point can you "speed up" the introduction? I mean really that would only be 24 foods by the time they are 1 year old. Am I missing something?

We stuck to the 4 day rule (not sure why some people are told 4 days and others a full week), so that's 45 foods between ages 6 months and one year. I give my girls anything I can think of, but I'm pretty sure they haven't had 45 different foods. Perhaps you could try waiting four days instead of seven? That would allow you to try more foods!

I guess I am the oddball (again), and was told everyday. I even asked about doing it only so many days, and they said no. I am supposed to be doing veg/fruit and meat too.

Try every 3 days. Then you can start mixing. and it is not a new food. If you have given bananas then you can try apples/bananas mixed. If you have tried carrots you can mix them with peas or cereal. Mix fruit with baby oatmeal or rice cereal for something new. I think you will run out of "new" things they haven't tried because there are only so many fruits and veggies. Also as my DH or I have never been allergic to anything and no one in our family sometimes I don't wait 3 days. I only introduce one new thing at a time, but... I am a lax parent and many people would freak, but I say do what you think it best as a parent. If you don't have any problems in yoru family history don't feed things they say are highly allergic but do what you think is best. If you are looking for other things to try go to www.wholesomebabyfood.com

I always waited 3-4 days to rule out any reaction to the particular food.

We aren't ready for solids yet, obviously, but my doctor said start with baby rice, wait one week, then oatmeal wait one week, then pear, wait one week, and then whatever you want, but always wait three days before introducing something new, so you can observe any allergic reactions.

I just did whatever I wanted. I mixed them and never did a wait period! I'm crazy I guess but they are FINE and they eat everything!!
