    Hi
my twins are 4.5 mts old, one is still waking around 2 am for a feeding and the other at 3am it seems they are always hungry. We started them 2 weeks ago on oatmeal from a bowl..so I am wondering is it ok to give them fruit at this age???

I think most peds say between 4 and 6 months. We started at 4. Have you asked yours?

Our ped starts solids at 4 months. Liam has had rice cereal, green beans, bananas and carrots so far. You just need to wait 3-4 days after introducing a new food before introducing another. Check with your pedi to be sure, first.

Yes, some books I've read says you can skip the cereal all together and start with fruits and veggies. I think the cereal makes the transition easier because it's normally mixed with something the babie is used to (formula or breastmilk)

I think it is ok between 4-6 months; we started around 4... The thing to remember is to only introduce one fruit/veggie at a time within a 3-4 day period. This is to make sure they don't have any allergic reactions to the food. After 3-4 days of one fruit, you can introduce another. Good luck and have fun, I know I was very excited to feed my girls new things at that age!

The newest studies say that it doesn't matter which foods you do first (within reason). You can even do meat if you want to. As long as you do single foods and wait a few days between new ones to watch for allergic reactions then you should be fine. I don't think starting fruits is going to make any difference in their night waking though. Many babies need a night feeding until 6 months old. You might want to try waking the 2nd baby as soon as the first baby is done eating though so you don't have to get up twice in such a short period of time. Good luck!
