Do/did you do milk before solids or solids before milk when feeding? And did you do them consecutively or wait in between?

    Schedules are my nemisis :aggressive:

Depends on the age of the babies for me.

Until they are eating a good bit of solids in each sitting it's really more of an experiment thing instead of a nutrient thing. So I would want them to take their milk in (the nutrients) and then do solids (the play). I usually keep with their normal bottle/nursing schedule and then just offer solids a few times a day once they are ready as a bonus when they are ready. However we don't do baby food. so that changes things a bit as kids are usually quite a bit older by the time they are ready to feed themselves.

We do milk first as always. I would say do milk first until they go down to 3 bottles and time between feeding gets longer.I guess its when they are 10 or 11 months. My twins have milk then solid 1.5-2 hours after their bottles. If I give them early, won't eat.they need nutrition to grow.and its from milk not solid. My pedi says its ok they get main nutrition from solid now.I totally disagree with her lol.I know she doesn't like me much becuase I always have questions and argue with her lol.but I don't care.
To me I always add milk milk milk everywhere.if they turn down and refuse it so bad, then I give them solid lol. But I still add milk in their solid lol.

You can try it out. Give them a bottle, if they finish it then wait 1 hour then offer them solid. If they don't eat well, next time wait 1.5hrs. And if they don't finish their bottles, then give in solid a bit earlier.

I know schedule is confusing. We just have to figure out the best schedule and stick with it though. Good luck! And happy 8 months old yeah!!!

I've always done milk then solids. I space it out by about 30 min only because it usually takes me that long to get everyone seated, ready to eat and the food to the table. The girls are now doing 3 meals a day so we get to eat as a family, as long as DS "decides" to sit and eat with us (but that's another story, lol) ;)

I always do milk before solids. For breakfast and lunch, they get their solids right after their milk, for supper there is about 15-30 mins between the two depending on when they drink their milk, and how on the ball I am with supper.....

Up to 12 months I always gave milk or bf'ed first and then I just started giving it with meals.

Milk before solids here. Even now in the morning when they wake, they immediately want their sippy cup of milk. I would give the bottle first, and then the solids about 45 minutes later-or whenever I remembered. Whatever happened first! ;)

Thanks Ladies...we tried this morning and it wasn't so good, neither of them were interested in the food. I'll try again at lunch.

Milk should always come first during the first year. It's okay if they aren't interested in solids at this point.
