I was just rubbing my one my son's head and notice his soft spot is much larger than my other son's. Should I be concerned. His head is bigger, they are frat, Is this normal, now I am starting to worry!

Hmmm I never compared soft spots. How old are they? If they are frat and his head is bigger then it seems like he would also have a bigger soft spot.

My ID twins had huge soft spots compared to my other children. I asked my Dr. about it and he said although they were open alot it was completely normal. He also mentioned that they were born at 37w3d and by c-section. I don't remember why he mentioned that. I was just happy that it was normal. After that I stopped worrying and now at almost 9 months they seem normal. Talk to your Dr.

My DS has a huge soft spot and DD has a normal one. Their pedi always says it's normal.

I would think it was normal, especially if his head is bigger.

I think they are just different. Your Ped should be checking the soft spot at each WBV. Sounds fine to me.

Sounds normal to me, my DS had a bigger soft spot then my DD. Like Rachel said, your pedi usually checks this at each well visit but if you are concerned mention it at the next visit :)

I just called my doctor's office a couple nights ago because I was worried about one of my daughter's soft spots. They didn't ask any questions about the size of the soft spot - only if it was sunken or bulging. My daughter's was a little sunken - a sign of dehydration - so we're keeping an eye on it

I don't know what the problem would be if it was to big but I think I would rather mine have it big then small and close to soon.

The soft spot on my DS is almost closed (he has the larger head) and the one on my DD is quite large. The pedi feels them every time we are there and she has never made a comment. I honestly never thought much about it. I know soft spots can vary so much in babies, so it never worried me.

My ds had a small soft spot & my dd a large one. Her head was bigger. Normal. The ped. should be checking it at every visit so I wouldn't be too concerned. Mark it down as something to ask about at the next well visit.

Thanks for the replies ladies. I got nervous for a second because the one with the larger spot is the more fussier one so I thought maybe something was wrong with him. Glad to hear that others have had varing sizing and that the ped checks for it at the visits. I feel like I am so flustered at the visits from undressing the babies and answering the questions. Sometimes I almost feel like I need to come back and talk to him without the kids so I can get my thoughts together. All the prep in just getting them out the house and undressed at the office on top of being tired. Anyone else feel like that at the visits? I was thinking maybe I should start taking them one at a time? Does anyone else do that?
