Since the twins are starting to pull up and DD looking like she's about to cruise. I'm starting to think seriously about some type of shoes. I've tried putting shoes on them, but so far nothing has gone well. I am wondering about these soft type shoes I've seen advertised in all my parenting magazines.

So if you've tried them, did they work well? Did your kids like them? Which brand did you buy? Did they hold up well?

I think this is the first time I've started a thread in this forum. I hope it's ok. I thought that there would be more moms to weigh in on this here. Thanks!!

The Robeez are comfy but they can be tight around the ankle if you have "ample" kids (like my Evan with adorable his no-ankle legs).

We use and love the Target brand. The girls love them so much they carry them around with them if they aren't wearing them. One thing, they don't hold up too well if you are going to be doing a lot of playing outside, like the playground. And don't try washing them in the washer!

My boys did well with the Target brand also. We just used them for daycare, otherwise, we were barefoot. Once they started walking well, we put them in "real" shoes but when we're in the house, we still go with bare feet.

We used the Target brand for awhile but then I just gave up on the soft shoes and waited until they were truly walking outside before getting shoes (from Preschoolians). Barefoot is best, so my kids are always barefoot around the house. When we went out they didn't need shoes because they were in their stroller. Now that they're walking, I love the Preschoolians shoes. You can actually get them in the soft version for pre-walkers too and they have a 40% twin discount.

We used the Robeez for all of our kids and they did great with them.

We used robeeze. We got them as gifts though so I think if I was buying shoes, I'd buy the Target ones because they look the same for a much cheaper price.

Thanks for the tip on the twin discount!

I had no idea that Target had something like this. You girls are the best! I am thinking of this due to daycare. We'll still be barefoot at home and when out and about in stroller and such. ;)

We used Robeeze and loved them. I washed mine several times in the washing machine and they did fine. :) I have some that are knock offs (the others were gifts) and they will wear them alot this winter. We now mainly have barefeet at all times. I have some regular shoes but to me they are uncomfortable and hard to teach them balance.

Mine went barefoot in the infant room at daycare too (though some of the other kids did wear Robeez or similar things), but we occasionally put soft shoes on them for going outside in the winter. We had one pair of Bobux (very similar to Robeez, and similar price) and one knockoff from Target. The Bobux ones did seem a little softer, but otherwise they were indistinguishable.

We used the Target Brand (Ministar) when they were little...more because I'm OCD about shoes (they're TOO cute) & because my kids could NOT keep socks on (nor could daycare ever figure out where their socks were). As they started crawling & cruising, the Ministars got too small & too tight around the ankle for sure, so we got Pedipeds as a gift from my ILs. They're pricey, but they were really nice. They each had 2 pairs & we got plenty of use out of them. Now that it's summer, we are barefoot a lot...even outside. They've FINALLY outgrown their Pedipeds & I just couldn't bring myself to pay for more (the price went up), so I got some Champion sneakers from Payless (Buy 1, Get 1 1/2 off). They're super cute & the boys don't seem to mind them. The soles aren't super thick either, like most little kids' shoes seem to be. I'm not sure what we'll do for winter when they're actually WALKING...but I may invest in a pair of Preschoolians (mainly b/c of the discount there) for walking outside. I'm actually gonna kind miss their cute little toes when we have to start wearing socks & shoes again! Oh, and once they're walking, they HAVE to have shoes on at daycare.

We loved Pedipeds. Robeez are good too but I just really preferred the look of Pedipeds.

  14. I loved the UMMI soft soled creep and crawl shoes. Made with a reinforced toe for pulling up.
We used them from 10-16 months as pre-walkers.

I've bought many pairs of pedipeds and love them. We've had Robeez too but as they got older, I thought the pedipeds finish an outfit better. :D
they hold up well and wipe clean.

I also liked Robeez but they started to leave marks around the ankles so we moved on. Pedipeds worked well in general but my kids feet are too wide to fit them well. I ended up going the Stride Rite route, but I waited until they were walking to do so.

I never liked the look of the Robeez/PediPeds etc so they always wore soft soled shoes from BRU (the Koala Kids) that looked like actual shoes (when they weren't barefoot)...once they could cruise and pull up they got Stride Rites - and now they wear Wal-Mart brand sneakers...

mine didn't wear shoes until they were walking. at the most, it was socks, or for christmas, just the fabric soled black patent shoes....so i can't offer much in terms of the soft soled like robeez since i never used anything like that....

once they started walking, i wanted VERY flexible soles....and found some really cute shoes at target, circo brand--in the shoe department

Here is the link to the ones i got for ally, and here are the ones i got for bear. they had other cute styles, too

It's so funny to me to see so many people comment that they wanted to find shoes that looked like 'real' shoes, because I am soooo the opposite. I was bummed beyond belief when I saw that I couldn't get the really cutesy Robeez with a good sole that will protect my little runners. So I was so excited to see that Preschoolians has shoes for older toddlers, but still with the cute look of the original Robeez. I have absolutely no need for my babies to grow up just yet, and I guess keeping them in the cutesy shoes (which they love too fwiw) is my small form of protest!

PediPeds, PediPeds, PediPeds ... LOVE THEM! My girls LOVE their shoes! I have tried Robeez and they don't like them as well as their PediPeds ... and the PediPeds are so darned cute, too!

They are FANTASTIC! We started out with the Robeez but at 26 bucks or more a pair it was too expensive for the two of them so I found a knock off brand at Target which were just as nice and half the price. (they have more styles if you go on line but be careful as they run much bigger than the Robeez) They are great. The ped recommended that those were the best shoes to start off with but whenever possible, the very best thing was to let them be barefoot. GL
