So what do you do to pass the time?

I am not a crafty person, so crocheting and scrapbooking and things like that were out for me. Plus, I don't know how enjoyable it would have been to do it while laying on my side.

    I tended to:
    1) Read magazines (I would fall asleep with books!)
    2) Watch chick-flicks from Netflix
    3) Surf the net

What do you do to pass the time?

hmmmmmm, I guess I spend a lot of time online. Most is spent here or on my multiple miscarriage board. It's been a great support system for me. I also watch tv, but nothing special. If my hands weren't always swollen I would knit. I also homeschool my 4 and 6 yr old. My husband does some and I try to fill in the gaps when I can. If I get too stressed the ctx's tend to get worse. I guess that's it. Pretty boring. But it's just the nature of bedrest I guess.

I like crafty projects so I'm crocheting a 2nd baby afghan and cross stitching a quilt to hang on the wall in their nursery. I pick out library books online that hubby picks up for me, so I do some reading. DH brings me the bills so I can pay them online. The hospital social worker brought me a big book of crossword puzzles, which I work on more then I ever thought I would, especially during my monitoring twice a day. I write thank you notes for the hospital and shower gifts. I spend time on the computer updating our pregnancy blog, playing games and reading celebrity gossip. Of course, the tv is always on for company.

That's all I can think of for now!

Like I said in my post on the other topic. I learned to crochet and did 2 blankets, I read, watch tv and yes I also have watched soooooooooooooo much A Baby Story and Bringing home baby. I sort of started to freak out watching the deliveries on A Baby Story so now I usually just watch Bringing home baby. I have been addicted to watching Little House on the Prarie though and it's on about 3 times a day. The rest of my time has been spent building my home business and getting things started with that. I do regret not keeping a journal though. I was so nervous at the beginning of the pregnancy that I didn't start one then (I had 2 m/c) and then time just slipped away. When I went on bed rest I had my journal next to me but never filled anything in. I guess I was nervous again about something bad happening. Now I wish I would have just done it from the beginning.

    Chrishelle,

It's not to late to start a journal now and it will take up lots of your time!

DH and I have used an online one called babycrowd.com. It's simple to use because it has an open format so you can write whatever you want, plus you can upload pictures too. Since I've been in the hospital, it has been a great way to keep family up to date without having to make tons of calls or send a bunch of emails.

    Just a thought!

I established a daytime routine of television, I already watched a couple soap operas at work (it was actually part of my job to watch and fill the other staff in if they were out of the office) so they worked right into the schedule. After the neighbor girl got out of school she would come over and we would play some board games. In the evenings I usually had some company of some sort. I found the weekends to be more challenging because my tv routine was ruined and most of my friends were out living their life. I am not really a movie person so I usually ended up surfing the web, I played alot of yahoo cribbage.

So far, I'm re-reading my entire library, watching more TV, loving my Netflix membership, surfing the web, and starting to sketch again. Oh and ofcourse sleeping more than I should.

Lots of internet with the laptop and lots of baby shows. I've got my DVR recording the show I watch even though I watch them as they record, it changes the channel for me so I don't have to. You wouldn't believe the baby shows that are on all day between Discovery Health and TLC. I've noticed that my life has become a high risk maternity show like Babies: Special Delivery with all the problems I've been having. I've also got a ton of books and magazines to read plus some knitting projects. However I'm afraid to knit anything for my babies until I feel more secure about their outcomes. I think it helps a lot to have a schedule or a routine. I try to get up, take a shower and have my meals at the same time everyday. Plus I try to talk to at least one person on the phone everyday so I don't feel so isolated. I thought about blogging about being on bedrest and trying to find away I can make money at home but I haven't come up with anything yet.

During my hospital bedrest (8 weeks 3 days) I spent most of the day watching TV, reading books, talking on the phone when I could find somebody home, and sleeping. I wasn't allowed to sit up at all, even to eat, so my attempts to learn to knit were totally ineffective, and the needle point I started never got finished. Plus, I had no internet connection so I was bored to death.

    Hi,
I know what bedrest was like, I did alot of reading, surfing the net, movies, listening to music, cleaned out my purse, crossword puzzles, sleeping, i started making bracelets (and I'm definately not a crafty person). I wrote letters to family and friends that live out of state and talked on the phone. I hope this helps, I know how you're feeling. I was bedrest for 7 weeks and I thought I would go insane.... thank god I had my little dog during the day she was my little cuddle partner :p I wish you all the best!!!!

I was on bedrest for 4 months with my boys. The only new suggestions I have are:

    1) GameBoy or other hand held video game

    2) Start sweepstaking- sounds weird I know, but it's time consuming and addictive and you actually can win some cool things. This was a hobby of mine before the babies are born (I know longer have the time to do it) and I won quite a few great things (cash, giftcards, trip, pearl necklace, Laker's tickets, baseball tickets, iPod mini, etc.) Check out www.sweepsheet.com for more info.

:wub:I found 2 new crafts to do! I got the stuff to make my son a "big brother" t-shirt, I'll post a pic when I finish it. He won't see it til after the twins are born. My other craft is a special pillow case I want to make for the big european pillow I have that is coming to the hospital with me. It's a huge square shape, and since I can't find a pillow case for it in the stores, I figured I'd like to make a custom one anyway. I have to go get fabric yet for the pillow case, but I know the style I want to do. It won't be just like a sack that regular bed pillow cases look like, it will be a hidden opening type - where the back pieces overlap. Make sense? I'll post pics of that too once I get it done.

I haven't figured out what to do with all my time yet. I have a few ideas...my first day was Friday so I didn't do much really but post on msg boards.

My thoughts so far are to do the following stuff; I'm a crafy/hobby person so I should be able to catch up on a lot of things I've been too tired after work to do.
-make the birth announcements & address/stamp the envelopes as well (I'll only need to write in the date/time/weight/length for each twin)
    -work on my pregnancy album
-finish up the baby blankets, I have to do the border on baby boys and all of baby girls (I'm crocheting them
-work on my photography skills (I got an SLR and need practice)
    -watch baby shows
-sleep in/naps (I've been needing this I think)
-write letters to out of state family
    -message boards of course
-re-organize the twins clothes & 'stuff'
-be able to keep up the house myself (dh's been doing it for a few weeks now most all the time)
-organize my scrapbooking room and supplies
-I hope to take a walk daily with dh
-go over hospital bags and ensure everything is packed
    -make visitor log for hospital/home

hmm, can't think of anything else.

I've found the thing I'm best at is obsessing over everything!

But seriously, I find that bedrest is like your teeenage years. You wonder if i will ever end, but now that I'm in my 30's, I look back at how quickly they've gone. I've been on bedrest for almost 5 weeks already and I hope (in the sense that I hope the babies don't come any sooner, not in the sense that I love bedrest) to be here for another 10 so I don't give birth before 35w. To date I have read a ton of books, done a little work for my office at home, Netflixed lots of movies (and the Sopranos, I'd never seen a single episode!) There are days where I have a lot I want to do and I don't even get to it all. Then there are days where I have a lot planned and I don't do a single thing and the day goes by so slowly!

I've gotten pretty good at typing lying down though!

i was on bedrest for 12 weeks. I watched all 10 seasons of Friends, 6 seasons of ER. That way I had something to look forward to the next day. Since bedrest started so early, I bought a lot of the baby stuff on EBay. got some really good deals, and I had everything by the time the babies are born. So as you see, I spend most of my time on my labtop. Hang in there all of you, it sucks, but you will get through it.

I was so uncomfortable, I had a hard time doing anything productive while on bedrest. Initially, I thought bedrest would be great - catch up on reading, email, journaling and scrapbooking, but I really didn't do any of it!

Instead, I just layed there like a slug and watched TV and read things that didn't require a ton of concentration - magazines! I too, watched baby shows and became obsessed with watching Discovery Health Channel's Babies: Special Delivery because some of the mommies were going through what I did. Watching it scared me, but it also prepared me for certain obstacles and helped me count my blessings, too!

I watched a lot of netflix, including every episode of Sex and The City and Felicity. After getting married, I wasn't getting my girlie tv fix, so that definitely did it! I spent a lot of time online... researching strollers and carseats and buying clothes for the babies. I also tried to schedule visitors for at least once a week... that helped me have something to look forward to.

I wish I had known about sudoko back then... that would have kept me busy for awhile.

16 weeks of bedrest and I can barely remember it now that my babies are 2 years old. I know I did some other things, but I'm forgetting now.

Oh, I played handheld yahtzee and tetris and a lot of games online. DH played scrabble with me at night frequently.

I'll try to think of more...

I have been watching TV and I also go to school online so I work on homework. I am going to start back up my scrapbooking and maybe county cross-stitich or something along those lines. We don't have wireless internet so we are going to have to get a long ethernet cord so I can work on the computer at the recliner or something
