I feel soo tired today [IMG]

We've been doing CIO with the girls since Friday night. We've been putting them to bed with their sippy cups and sure they'd wake up crying, but nothing too major. [I assume] They find their sippy and fall back asleep within minutes [because the sippies would be pretty much empty by morning]. All has been going well.. until last night.

Trying to follow the rule of: "Do not go in there.. it will only make it worse for them." I tried to pretend I didn't hear Alyssa CIO [more like SIO - Scream it out] for 2 hrs.. During this time, of course, I couldn't fall asleep. And the longer I listened to that poor girl cry - tortured me that much more. Closing in on 3 hrs I had had enough.. I decided to grab a paci and fill a new sippy of water and just hand it to her - do not pick her up or anything.

When I entered the room she was rolling around in her crib screaming. She had thrown everything out of her crib [glow worm, paci, sippy and teddy bear]. I proceeded to hand her the sippy and she rolled over and she literally snatched it from my hands and began to drink. I just placed the paci in her crib and walked out. Didn't hear a peep from her until time to wake up.
I am so amazed that through all of this, Rose didn't wake or get pissed off. That girl just stayed quiet [IMG]

So, is there a time limit I should follow before deciding to go in there and check on her [them]? I mean, part of me feels guilty.. and that if I would have gone in there anytime within that 3 hr span and gave her that sippy, all of us [Rose, DH, Me, even Alyssa] would have had a better night.

We've done CIO since the boys were 5 1/2 months old so by now we have very few night wakings. I do differentiate between complaining crying and freak out crying. On the rare occasion that they freak-out cry, I do go in and see whats going on. That might be hard for you though since it might teach her that if she cries long enough and hard enough that you'll come in and then none of you will EVER get any sleep.
I'm not totally sure what I would do if I were you but I would lean toward not going in. Could you get rid of the sippies so its not such an issue?

This is our second attempt at doing CIO to get the girls to STTN. We've only started with the sippies and it has worked well.. until last night, lol.

 Suzy, I'm sorry you guys didn't get to have a good night's sleep last night. :( Maybe since you have been doing this for a few days, now you know that they do sleep on their own with no waking up, if they do get up and start screaming like that you can quickly go in there (no talking/picking up) after a half hour or so just to avoid you all not sleeping? Good luck.

I'm doing another round of CIO too. Let's bound together over bad sleeping babies. :) I've just vowed not to check them at all in the middle of the night.

 I am hoping for a better night's sleep for all of you. I agree with what Liz said, to go in after a half hour with no talking or picking up...
