I am never a big eater, and although I had a huge appetite burst in the first 10wks, its now a struggle to eat as much as I *think* I should be eating. When I was eating for just a singleton it was fine - but now that we know there is twins.....

I guess I was eating okay for them to get to 21wks without us even knowing there WERE two, and they were on track for 21 weeker's at that u/s, but still! Now I know I need more protein for them in this growing stage.

How do I get protein in? What are good foods that don't fill you up too much at one time? If I eat a salad I'm too full to get any meat in. If I eat the meat, I can't get the veggies in - and I'm only 23wks! I know its gonna get harder still!

Man - I have NO CLUE how my girlfriend with trips did this........

I drink the ensure plus protein drinks. And I've read a lot of people on here drink protein shakes and things like that. You can buy packets at the vitamin stores and add them to your drinks.

There are several things you can do to get more protein in. Of course, eat more meat.... which is sometimes hard. I drink the ensure or boost drinks a few times a week, drink milk each day, add yogurt and wheat germ or whey protein to smoothies in the mornings, etc.....

I drink two Boosts a day. My peri told me to do this because of the fact that my twins are mono/di but it would be a good way to get protein in even if your babies don't share a placenta.

Mine are also mono/di - so I'm thinking I may add that Boost in - I've heard it from many people.....

I had a hard time getting enough protein, as it just didn't appeal to me. After a while I stopped trying, and just ate plenty of what I felt like. I gained 50 lbs  , but had big healthy twins. Now if I can just lose those last ten lbs. <_<

If you eat a cup of cottage cheese it's 26 grams of protein. This is my only regular and steady source of protein everyday. I'm getting quite tired of eating it every day, but I know that it helps me feel not so crappy. A small piece of real cheese is only 5 grams, and milk has a little too. Peanut Butter is not really that much either. Meat is not going down well for me.... what is a girl to do?

If you get tired of plain cottage cheese here is something that might be a good change.

    1 cup of cottage cheese
    1 cup frozen fruit
    sugar or honey to taste

Put it all in the food processor and blend until smooth.

Try Greek-style yogurt too, such as Chobani, Fage, or Oikos. It has a lot more protein than American yogurt. You can sometimes find it in Walmart and mainstream grocery stores like Publix. You can definitely find it in more upscale stores like Whole Foods.

I drank boost twice a day and I credit it with stabilizing my ttts. It was easy to chug even if I wasn't hungry.

Cottage Cheese.............oooh - I have NEVEr been able to eat it - squeaks too much in my teeth! LMBO I will try tho, now knowing how much protein is in it!

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look for those yogurts. We live in a small town, so specialty stuff is hard to come by.
