Hey Ladies, I am so sorry it has been crazy busy around here and I don't have much time to visit TS anymore. I have missed all of you!

Yesterday I took the twins for their 6 month checkup. Here are their stats:

Ryley weighs 16lbs 9oz and is 25" long. His head is 43cm. He is in the 25th percentile for height, weight and head. He is growing well and proportionately. He needs to be evaluated for a helmet to correct his right side of his head due to a flat spot. He is right on target developmentally. He loves to stand, play and roll over. He will also sit up with assistance and tries to on his own.

Kelsey weighs 13lbs 15oz and is 24" long. Her head is 41cm. She is in the 10th percentile for height, weight and head and is also growing well and proportionate. She too needs to be evaluated for a helmet because she has a flat slope on the back of her head. Also, Kelsey needs to be evaluated for physical therapy. She is behind developmentally and needs to build her strength. She is still wobbly with her head control, hasn't tried to roll and stand.

I am worried about the helmets and PT. Anyone have experience with this?

Our twins haven't been ready for solids yet and we haven't even started cereal. But Ryley does have it added to his bottle for reflux. We got the okay to start solid foods and some juice. I am excited but don't know where to begin.

Both are talking up a storm now and love to touch and smile at each other. My babies are growing up so fast! Thank you to all of u that are always asking me how they are doing!

Sounds like an overall good appointment. I don't have any experience with helmets or PT, but I'm sure someone will have some insight for you.

Miss you too although I'm in the same predicament. I feel like I'm stretched super thin these days and can barely make it on to just scan through and ask quick questions. I still haven't made it to my last question. I don't know if it's the age or what but I am exhausted and feel so busy all the time. The appointment sounds pretty darn good! :) Not too sure about the helmets. For milestones go by the gestational age but remember every baby does things on their own time as well. Mine are only 3 weeks "early" and DD is almost crawling and basically sitting on her own while DS has very little interest in crawling and prefers to roll everywhere or do this weird tummy scoot to get where he wants and he's finally starting to sit more on her own but a bit behind DD. It's hard not to compare to each twin let alone all of the other kiddos out there. Just remember they're individuals. :) Sounds like things are going good! :)

My kids are about the same age as you, and DS is not rolling over and at times he has wobbly neck control too. However, his paeds said nothing about PT nor assessments, should I bring it up?

Yes, ask the ped about it.

To the OP, congrats on the great appointment. If you use the search feature in TS you can find a ton of posts about starting solids. Our doc. gave us pretty specific guidelines to follow but I've since learned there is no "right" way to do it. Start with rice cereal mixed with formula on a spoon to get them used to eating from a spoon. Then try the different cereals before starting veggies. We did cereal/veggies/meat/fruits in that order. My boys were 33weekers and our doc wanted us to introduce new foods just once a week, but most recommend a new food every 3-4 days. I hope that helps get you started! I don't know anything about helmets though there are women here who do. You might want to try a search for that too.
