So proud of Joel!

    Many of you know the struggles we have had with Joel. They year started terribly at school. He totally shut down. Refused to do anything. We had a very good meeting with the teacher and the principal to come up with a plan. The teacher started to cut back on his assignments, etc... That helped and he started to do more and more. Now she rarely has to accommodate, he has really taken off. (She does accommodate for long written assignments, much of that due to his fine motor and he can dictate a lot of those to me) Anyway, we got his first quarter progress report: the lowest grade was a 91!! He got straight A's!

    The teacher has said he is one of the smartest kids she has ever had in all her years of teaching (and she is a VERY energetic, fun 62 year old) and that she is amazed at his ability. He does have mild Asbergers, so some things are harder for him. However, I was so thrilled for him! I just had to share the news!
