I can't believe how many new things the babies are doing. They've figured out how to drink from their cups. DS just pulled up to standing for the first time this morning. DD can easily get from sitting to crawling and vice versa. DD has 3 teeth now and a 4th on the way, DS's 3rd is just coming through. Their hair is getting long and totally crazy.

And all of a sudden they're playing in much more sophisticated ways. They're not just chewing and banging things anymore. They try to stack one block on top of another, they take rings off the stacking ring toy one by one and try to put them back on again, they seem to want to have some kind of "project" - taking things out of the entertainment center and putting them back, putting things on top of a box and taking them down again. DD was bored with stuffed animals before, but now she hugs and cuddles them when she's sleepy (and tries to do the same to her brother, who is a little less cooperative than her Eeyore and Tigger!).

And they are really starting to understand words - eat, drink, more... If we ask "Where's Daddy?" or "Where's the cat?" they turn and look right away. They even understand "Where's Grandma's ring?" (My mom wears a ring that they love to look at.) They understand (though don't always obey  ) "Don't pull the diapers over" when they reach for the stack of clean diapers on the changing table. And DD is trying so hard to talk, babbling constantly and making new sounds every day, though it sounds more like Chinese than English (or Greek, the other language we speak at home). They recognize pictures too, and go nuts looking at pictures of cats. I take them to the computer and they just giggle like crazy at these pictures.

It's just amazing. They can go on for weeks with seemingly no changes, then all of a sudden there is this explosion of new skills. I'm exhausted and overworked and dying for a break, but it is so much fun watching them grow up. They aren't helpless newborns anymore, they're little people! :)

I love posts like this!! It really is so amazing to watch them grow and learn. And, it will be a conversation that you and DH have daily, several times -- just gushing over how brilliant your children are. :D

I know we still do it with my older one (she is 4 today, sniff) -- just yesterday, DH said to me, dude, Nadia almost *beat* me at checkers today....LOL.

Sounds like your little ones are doing great!

That sounds so exciting! When, oh when does this HAPPEN? Is it just all of a sudden? I feel like mine just lie around and roll around all day. And what's worse, I think they want to be doing other things but just can't get quite get it. It's frustrating. It's nice to know that somewhere around the corner they will be "little people" like you're decribing. Enjoy!

I think watching our kiddos grow and learn new things is one of the most fun things about being a parent! I've been up with my girls for the last two nights (they have a bit of a cold and can't breathe/sleep). As tired as I am and even frustrated at them sometimes, it just melts my heart to watch them do new things, interact, and get sooo excited when we praise them! So much fun!

we were just marveling over this in my house too! It is so much fun to watch them "talk" and mine also love to take things out of a container, and then put everything back in! Thanks for posting such happy news today!
