Well we did it. We made the big switch. 48 hours later and we are still relishing in the success and ease of it all (knock on wood)! I know that things can change, so I am still not breaking out the champagne yet. I went to Ikea last Monday and while we were there, I looked into the beds we wanted to get the kids (that match the furniture in their rooms that we already have). Well I learned that they were discontinuing the beds we wanted, and would not be getting more. So we went back this Friday and bought their beds. We swung by a mattress place on the way home and picked up two inexpensive twin mattresses. So of course I was not going to store it all in my garage, so we went ahead and set them up Saturday morning. Granted, this whole thing happened much faster than I would have planned, but I felt that they were ready. They are great sleepers, have their own rooms, LOVE to take naps, and have never tried to climb out of their cribs. I just didn't want to lose out on those beds before they went out of stock! They were so flippin' excited it was hilarious!!! We did Hannah's first, and she was instantly in love. After letting Ben play for a short period of time on it, she finally started yelling, "No Ben, off! MY bed!" So that ended in tears on his part, so we got him involved in taking apart his crib. He even helped put his bed together with us the entire time. They have taken two naps in them, and are now working on their second night. They have not figured out that they can get out of the beds on their own yet. Given time, I am sure that they will figure it out!!! Now I am off to go create an album to show some pics...I am not sure how to do that yet, so give me some time!
Well, I knew that we did not have the albums like the old site, but I thought there might be some other way of sharing pics. So I just attached them here.
Kate, that is too cute! I'm so glad that it went well for you. I am certainly not brave enough, I think our kids will be in cribs till kindergarten.
Oh my gosh, those pictures could not be any cuter. I absolutely LOVE Hannah's bedding. I can't wait to decorate like that (not that I'm wishing these days away). Congrats on the success of your transition!
I love the photo of Hannah in her bed and the one of Ben with his tool helping his Dad. How precious. Congratulations on the transition! :a_smil09:
Oh Kate, I'm so glad to hear it went well! I was just thinking over the weekend that we moved Ethan to his big bed right at his second birthday, and I look at the twins and think NO WAY am I moving them now! But, like Ben and Hannah, they're great sleepers and they have their own rooms. So maybe the time is right. Where did you get their bedding? Hannah's bedding would match Lauren's room perfectly!
Great pictures! I'm so glad the transition went well. We did it here, too, a few weeks ago and it went much more smoothly than I expected. The best part... I can lean down and kiss them when they are sleeping now... no crib rails in the way

I love that place! QUOTE The best part... I can lean down and kiss them when they are sleeping now... no crib rails in the way I LOVE that part too!!!
 Kate!!! SO CUTE!!! Oh my gosh. I really love those beds, they seem like they would be classics that wouldn't need to be discontinued! Hmmm. How darling are they? I am so happy that you are having an easy transition so far. I think our problem will be jumping on the bed. They do that on ours all the time and it JUST occurred to me that they will want to on their own bed! And we have the whole Monkey See Monkey Do thing around here as well and sharing a room still will be hard to manage. (sorry, thinking out loud) I love their bedding!! Can't wait to buy cute bedding!!
So cute, Kate! I LOVE the picture of Ben with the screwdriver. LMAO!! Congrats on such a smooth transition -- I am nowhere near brave enough for that yet! :icon_eek: I am planning on having mine stay in cribs until they leave for college.

And we have the whole Monkey See Monkey Do thing around here as well and sharing a room still will be hard to manage. (sorry, thinking out loud) You will have the added challenge, if they are sharing a room. But FWIW, our kids jump on our bed all the time. We rough house on our bed after bath time and before bedtime. They jumped on the bed when we first put it together, but when we put the bedding on, we told them that they could not jump on the bed. They had to "be nice to their new beds," at which point they proceeded to pet them, much like they would pet our cat. Sooooo, they have not figured out that they can jump on them yet. Maybe in time, but the rule so far of no jumping is working. But we are only a few days into this.
Awesome bedding...Iv'e been looking at their stuff at Target, it's adoarble!!! Congrats on the smooth transition thus far!!! That's great!
