We live in a trilevel where the basement is 4 steps down from the main level. A long time ago we converted the basement into playroom so we'd have a seperate place for all the twinnies toys. We do have toys on the mainlevel too and they play in both spaces. I always had the babygate up though because I didn't trust them on the stairs. They have been doing great with going up and down the 4 steps so yesterday I decided to try removing the gate. They happily go up and down and play. I am sitting here all by my lonesome in the living room while they both ditched me and headed downstairs to play. They sound like they are having a blast!! I should be happy that they are showing a little bit of independence right? And if I should be happy why do I feel sad? I think I'm gonna go be the third wheel and bug 'em down there ;)

LOL Yay for being able to safely go down stairs! That's funny that it makes you feel left out! You could always put the gates back up if you want to be "needed"! LOL

Yep but it is so hard when they become SO independent. Katie is at that stage now and its sad... it seems like her infant days were so FAST compared to the boys'.

Oh, I'm a little jealous right now actually. My babies never go play on their own. Don't you worry though, if you went down there I doubt you'd be a 3rd wheel. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to play with you. Or you could actually go unload the dishwasher without 2 of them trying to climb in it! Or lay on the couch and read a book without them climbing all over you and ripping the pages out.

Aww...that's great! And see, it let you get back to visit us! Mine won't even go in the next room without me and it drives me nuts. I can totally understand where you are coming from too! They are growing up so quickly! Before we know it, they'll be pasting "do not disturb" notices on their bedroom doors!

I totally get how you are feeling. I would be really sad too but yep they are growing up which means you did a good job.

So sweet, but yes, hard on mom. It's touching that they play so nicely together (at least for me it always is). They still need you though, mommy. Always.

Yeah!! That's great they are down there playing by themselves :)
You deserve a break and enjoy the time alone because you never know when a phase might come where they don't want you to leave the room(TRUST ME I'm in that phase right now and can't leave the room without my daughter throwing a tantrum!)
    So, I'm jealous of you....LOL!!
    Take Care & GL!
