So I had an idea

    My two love their puzzles.

Does anyone velcro the pieces to the board so they don't get lost when they're not being played with? Like put a small piece of velcro on the back of the pieces and on the puzzle back? Do you all think this would work?

I didn't even think of that, but it's a great idea! I think it would work just fine, as long as the pieces aren't too thick. You still want them to be able to fit. Seriously, missing puzzle pieces (well, pieces to anything) drive me INSANE! Let me know if it works out, because I'm willing to try anything at this point.

    What a great idea!!
Should work as long as it's not too thick huh??
Let us know when you try it :)

I guess it depends on the puzzle. One DD likes to put the pieces in by sliding it across the puzzle so I think the velcro would annoy her (and she'd probably peel it off). The other DD would spend hours just sticking it and unsticking it to the velcro. Let us know if you try it!

I think it is a really good idea. Please let us know if you try it and how it works. I might use that for my little ones!

I'd think that would work fine, as long as the velcro isn't so strong that they can't easily remove the puzzle pieces when they are playing with them.

This is another good point to consider.

If you do try it make sure to let us know how it goes!

Interesting idea. I'd also be concerned about frustration when sliding the pieces in, but I think it just might work. :good: Let us know how it goes and how they react! :)

To quote Dora, "We did it, we did it, we did it yeah. . ." and it works! I do have some hints that I gathered from trial and error.

The type of velcro is important. You don't want industrial strength, you actually want the least velcro-ey type. I found some clear craft velcro that doesn't have very large hooks or loops.

Self sticking is best. I was going to use the glue gun, but that would make it stick up too much.

Size - smaller is better. I took the circles of velcro and cut them into quarters. One quarter is perfect for a puzzle piece.

Placement - do not put it in the center of the puzzle piece. Put it in a corner. It makes it easier for the kiddos to remove.

:clapping: Yay! Thanks for the hints, I'll be filing the idea away for future use.
