I posted a little while ago about dd seeming to be showing interest in using the potty. She did go the day before yesterday, but I thought perhaps I just caught it at the right time. She had woken up with a dry diaper, so I asked her if she wanted to "pee pee in the potty?" She said, "Potty!" so I took her in.....set her on her little potty chair, and I sat on the big one (sorry if that's tmi, but it seemed to work that we were both going). Anway, she pooped! I made a big fuss over it & we flushed it down, saying "bye bye poo poo!"

The next day I asked her again & while she did say "Potty!" again, she got fussy when I put her on the seat. I think what happened was she'd gotten constipated (she's had ongoing problems with this for over 6 mos) and it just hurt too much. I didn't want to push it, or have her associate the potty with pain, so we quit. Then tonight, after dinner she was sitting in my lap and kept saying what I thought was "baby, baby". Finally I realized it wasn't baby, but "pee pee" (sometimes sounds the same). I said, "Zoe, do you want to go pee pee on the potty?" She said, "Potty!" and pointed down the hall toward my bedroom (where her potty is in my bathroom). So I put her on her little chair & this time I sat on the big potty again myself & it did seem to help. And she pooped again!

Anyway, I'm sorry that's such a long story. Just had to brag to someone, since dh is out of town. :) But here's my question: ds has no interest whatsoever in going potty, but he likes to sit on the seat as a chair. I think I'll have to get a 2nd potty b/c every time I go to take dd on the potty, he plops down on it & won't budge. My question is, if you have one that's not interested, what do you do with them while the other is on the potty? And if you give a treat for going potty, do they both get one? He just won't understand that the treat is for going potty, when he's not doing it. But will it take away from the specialness of it for dd if he gets one too?

WTG go Zoe!! That is great!

As for your question, When one is going and the other one is usually right there watching!! I would just keep encouraging him to go, but do not push. I do not give treats to the other one if they do not go on the potty. It breaks my heart as well, but I am trying to stick to the principal of the reward which was going potty.

    Good luck! :)

We're still working on potty training, but I wanted to tell you that my girls both have constipation issues and pooping is much easier for them in the potty than the diaper! We've been putting them on the potty for it since about 14 months when Jessica had a particulary rough BM and she realized it was easier and started requesting the potty when she was straining.

:a_smil09: :a_smil09: YAY!! That's great!! Nice and early!!

DD used to poop on the potty and for about 6 mos. we've been stuck at the occasional tinkle, so I think you are doing well with encouraging her!!! WAY TO GO!!!
