Hi! I am new to the site and I need some help. I found out at 8 weeks I was pregnant with twins. From the very beginning the dr was thinking one of the twins was not viable. He sent me to get another ultrasound. they confirmed his suspicions. Baby A measured 8 weeks 5 days with heartbeat and Baby B measured 7 weeks 4 days with no heartbeat. I went and had another u/s done yesterday at 12 weeks 3 days and Baby A was measuring 10 weeks 6 days still with strong hb and Baby B measured 10 weeks 2 days still no hb. How is it possible Baby B grew with no hb the whole time and even grew more than the viable baby????? I am so confused and my doc doesn't want to see me again until 16 weeks. I asked him about he baby still growing and he said it could be normal, but he doubted it would keep growing. Shouldn't the baby have passed or be reabsorbed by now? Please I need some help, I am going nuts.

That is confusing. I would have thought that if not viable, your little angel would have quit growing. I'm sorry you are having to wait so long to be seen again. We have seen some miracles happen on this twin site, I am thinking of you!!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have searched relentlessly since yesterday for any info. on this and can't find anything. Have you heard of anyone who hasn't seen the heartbeat until later in the pregnancy?

Sorry to hear your story. I had growth difference at 8 weeks and was told one wasn't going to make it but they both had strong heart beats and are still going although different in size. I am not sure what to say about one not having a heart beat. It seems strange that it is still growing if it isn't viable. I would be demanding for my doctor to recheck me in another week or seek a second opinion just for piece of mind. I know it is tough going through this as I thought I would lose one and had such a terrible time. Make sure you rest up and take things as easy as possible as this can be very draining. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you get some answers soon.

I'm sorry you have to endure this. I don't want to give you false hope, but I've read where others have not detected a heartbeat until over 12 weeks. One was even found at 14 weeks.
Lots of prayers and hugs your way. :grouphug:
