I never knew that my girls snored until we started the toddler bed transisiton two nights ago (and we are now going with crib tents cause toddler beds are awful). while sitting in their room waitng on them to go to sleep I noticed that when they fall asleep both of them snore. One much worse than the other. They are also very very restless sleepers. One of my girls, the one that snores worse, has been night waking for a good year now. SHe does this at least three or four times a week. COuld it be apnea? Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I bring up to the pediatrician or just go see an ENT and see if her adnoids need to be taken out?

Just went through 20 questions at my son's ENT appointment a couple of weeks ago over his adenoids and tonsils...snoring, restless sleep, potato mouth (the way his voice sounds different from the swollen adenoids), all point to problems with the adenoids and tonsils. We are trying to control his allergies which seem to cause his adenoids and tonsils to flare before we consider removing them. That wasn't particularly helpful to you, but just to let you know I went to the ped who suggested the ENT and so we did that.

I have no advice on children but my DH has very bad apnea. Restless sleep is a big key along with loud snoring. Based on what I know of adult apnea I would talk to you Ped.

I would definitely go to your pedi and ask if you need to see an ent. the "cure" for apneain little kids is typically tonsil/adnenoid removal, which is not a big deal at all. Good, consolidated sleep is very important for brain development. Good luck!
