I was just reading in "what to expect the first year" and it mentioned snacking around 7 months. What kind of snacks would this imply? I give them zwiebeck(sp??) toast after dinner sometimes for them to naw on, but I dont really give them snacks. Should I be??

I've been trying to figure this out too. Between 3 meals and 2 snacks they will be living in their highchairs I think!

Snacks at 7 mo??? My babies weren't even interested in having one MEAL a day at 7 mo! And it wasn't until maybe 10-12 mo that they had enough appetite for an afternoon snack.

I'd say don't worry about the books and just let the babies' appetite guide you.

I was giving them Gerber Puffs and Cheerios at 7 months.

I would give mine some finger foods to munch on while doing their 1-2 meals a day. I didn't really start true snacks until around 15 months and really I find mine eat better with no snacking.

If they're hungry for snacks you can give them but I'll bet you're barely getting solids in right now. Like a pp, we gave puffs and cheerios during mealtimes at that age but I didn't sit the girls down for a proper snack. As for Dax, he was barely eating one meal at that age.

At about 8 months I started giving them a Yo Baby yogurt while we ate dinner. They expect food while we are feeding our faces so it helps. Our pediatrician said if they seem hungry between meals, give them a little snack like yogurt or a little pureed fruit or something. Snacks will be easier when they have some teeth and can do finger foods.

Started offering cheerios and puffs around 8 months before meal time to keep them occupied while I got dinner situated. Didn't have a real snack time until we dropped down to 3 bottles and lost the 2:00p bottle which I replaced with a sippy and snack at 10.5 months.

I don't know what they put in those puffs, but they are like gold to my babies. At 10 months they have gotten into many snack foods - graham crackers, veggie crackers, fruit, yogurt, etc... but at your babies age you can also add apple slices in the mesh feeders as well as cheerios and PUFFS! Mine love the apple slices in the feeders AND they are great for teething.

cheerios, puffs, biter biscuits, zwieback toast. We only had two meals a day and a snack time at this point. There really is no right or wrong way... Just your way... ;)
