according to the brochure i got from our public health office at their 6 month shots, by 9 months babies should be taking aprox 3 meals a day & 1-2 snacks (plus nursing/formula). my girls are doing 3 meals a day, but i have no idea where we would fit snacks into the schedule! there just isn't time - they'd be overstuffed. also, they don't seem to be acting hungry or like they need any more to eat so maybe i should just not worry about it yet. but for future reference, when & how did everyone add in snacks to your schedule?

This was our 9 month schedule(notice the first sentence  ):

    QUOTE
It seems as if we eat and snack all day these days!

    730 wake and bottle
    830 breakfast(pancakes, cereal, applesauce, fruit)
915 snack(usually puffs or cheerios), milk in sippy
    930 nap
    1130 bottle
1230 lunch(pasta, diced veggies, and veggie baby food)
    115 snack(crackers),milk in sippy
    130 nap
    330 bottle
4 snack(nutrigrain bar), milk in sippy
    430 bath
530 family dinner(usually some of what we are eating, or pasta, veggies, fruit, and one container of baby food)
    7 bottle and bed

The days of liking pureed food are coming to an end, they bat at the spoon as soon as they see it.

Wow, Becky! That's a scary schedule! I can't imagine them eating that much! You were already doing pancakes and nutragrain bars by 9 months? We're doing three meals a day and it already feels like all we do is eat. I feel like I'm always nursing, making baby food, or feeding them! I was just thinking about how much less time I have to play because by the time I've nursed them, prepared the meal, and then fed the meal, it's almost time to start getting ready for the next nap! I go for our 9 month appointment in two weeks. I hope she doesn't tell us to add snacks yet! I'm not ready!

At 9 months we just started doing 3 solids meals a day. We didnt start snacks until about 10 months and really that was just Puffs, fruit, and Cheerios.

I didn't start snacks until we started dropping bottles between 11 and 12 months. (I replaced a bottle with a snack and a sippy of milk).

Woah! Mine have 2 full bottles a day (formula with a spoon of cereal in it), 2 meals and 2 snacks. DD doesn´t even want the 2 snacks so she´s on 4 feeds a day really. The pedi has said that this is more than enough and she seems to be thriving on it. As DS is more active then he does eat his two snacks. We aren´t on table food yet as the pedi wont allow it and has me afraid to start it...

We've been doing 2 meals a day with 1 snack. Sometimes we do 3 meals with 1 snack. If their last bottle was 1 hr or over before nap, I usually give them a snack before they go down.. seems to help them relax a little.

Snacks are puffs or mum mum's for now [with sippy with water].

Can they have cheerios even though they only have a few teeth? I'm always worried about them choking on em'

Here too. I waited to start finger foods b/c our pedi had us on a very slow feeding schedule. We introduced one new food a week instead of every 3-4 days. It made trying all the veggies/meats/fruits take forever! When we did start snacks, our basic schedule was:

(my boys were slow drinkers and only ever drank 4 oz a bottle)

    5:30-bottle
    7-cereal, fruit, bottle
    9-snack (puffs/cheerios)
    12-lunch (veggie/fruit/bottle)
    3-snack (puffs/cheeros/fruit/bottle)
5-dinner (meat stage 2/3, veggie, fruit)
    6:30- bottle then bed
