I think Emily was about 8wks old when she started smiling regularly. The twins will be seven weeks tomorrow. They smile once in a blue moon...Claire's first time was yesterday. Carlie has done a couple of times I think. She will look right at you when you talk to her, but no smiles.

I thought it was about 8wks when they start, so should I start seeing it more from them in the next couple of weeks?

I got my first spontaneous smile from both at 2 days before they turned 2 months! I have to say that it was one of my favorite memories of those sleep deprived months. It was definately easier to get up in the middle of the night when you MIGHT get a smile.

same as us - it was very slow at first, but now they seem to smile a lot.

Mine were smiling at everything apart us whether they were awake or asleep!! They started smiling at DH and I at the start of 7 weeks and are now pretty consistent. However, I'll admit our drapes get more smiles from them than I do!!! ;)

This is too funny! When the girls first started smiling and laughing (smiling around 6-8 weeks), DH and I were so excited that they did this *only* for us! That was until we realized that Meara gave bigger smiles to DH's feet than his face! Even now at 6 months old, whenever we go into their room Ana starts completely cracking up when she looks at these flower wall decorations I have in there. I have no idea what the joke it, but its hysterical for her!

I think it was around 9/10 weeks. I remember the pedi asking if they were smiling at their 2 months, and they were not then, but did really soon after that...

    Love those smiles :)

It's funny how we are desperate for those smiles to start. Now when mine wake up after a 15 minute nap and give me the big goofy grin - I'm thinking, "do not make eye contact" and trying to pat them back to sleep. They are so sweet!!!

    Grins are great!!

I got my very first smile from Mia yesterday that wasn't a spontaneous smile! It was so neat I had just came downstairs and went over to the girls, Mel was fussing and Mia had her eyes WIDE open, looked at me and SMILED soooo big!!!!

Those spontaneous smiles are pretty cute too, like when their sleeping or just finishing nursing and their eyes will be closed and they'll smile. :)
