Small Victory

I had to share this with someone that I figured would be able to sympathize and you ladies came to mind. I found out a few months ago that if I worked over 40 hours I still had to work through the equivalent of my pump breaks for the week (normally 2.5 hours) before I started getting time and a half. I wasn't working a lot of OT but it was the principal of the matter - if it had been smoke breaks I would have gotten the time and a half pay starting after 40 hours. Why not for pumping?

I went through payroll who told me that everything was working as it should and basically treated me like an idiot. So I lodged a complaint regarding the policy. After a week or two I was told that I was correct in my interpretation of the policy and that a fix was in the works. Yesterday (about 3 months after filing the complaint), I was notified that the fix is almost complete and I will be getting the back pay (5 hours at half my hourly rate) on my next paycheck. :woohoo: So we went to Wendys for dinner last night and blew it all. I did say it was the principal!

The bonus? Soon I won't have to code my nursing breaks separately which has been a pain in the hiney for the last 6.5 months. And this fix will apply to all nursing mothers at my company going forward.
