I never had a sling with my DD, but am thinking I want a sling, especially to try and nurse in, once the twins come. Any recommendations ladies?? TIA!! ;)

    Hi Sandy-
Sorry, no recommendation here - but was just researching them last night. Would love to hear other's thoughts!
I hear they can be especially helpful with twins when you are out and about and do not want to lug out your
double stroller. One in the sling and one in a regular stroller! The prices really vary and do not want to spend the money
    if not needed.

    Howdy,

I bought two types of slings, one for me and one for hubby. But I have not used them yet (still waiting on babies to come). I got a ring sling for hubby since I dont have a strong back, but it only holds one baby. I got myself a moby wrap, which goes around the front and back, and for a short time, can hold two.

Once I try them out I'll let you know how they work. I got them online at....

I bought two slings for my twins, a Maya Wrap and a New Native.

The Maya wrap has a ring that makes it adjustable and a big long flap of material that can be used for covering up while nursing (although I never tried nursing with the sling). When the twins are very small you can put them both in the Maya Wrap, although I found it rather uncomfortable. The Maya wrap is also supposed to be very versatile, with all sorts of positions you can hold babies and bigger kids in, but I never used it past the infant stage, then switched to the Baby Bjorn.

The New Native is very simple and not adjustable, and DH liked it better.

For several months I sometimes carried both twins, one in each sling with the slings crisscrossed. It worked well because it balanced the weight between my two shoulders. It was so funny because I could be out with two babies and sometimes people wouldn't realize it at all.

Check on Ebay if you want to try to save some money. They seem to hold up well and are machine washable, so I think it's a perfect item for buying used (in fact, I should get mine posted on there sometime soon - if I do, I'll let everyone know)

FWIW, I did some research and emailed a bunch of babywearing websites, and got almost unanimous replies that ring slings are the best for carrying twins, followed by moby. They also said no pouches for twins.

Maya wrap makes their pattern available on the internet, and it is super easy, so I made two. Obviously I haven't used them yet, but I think they'll be really useful once the twinkies arrive.

I will be rotating through my stash to find what works best for us. Hotsling, Ring Wrap, Moby Wrap, Peanut Shell.
You may want to check out Babywearer.com and see what you think.

Ok, I had to go back and see where you live. Here with our Local Attachment Parenting group we actually have a baby wearing library. We literally have at least 1 of every kind of baby wearing product. I'm not exactly next door to you, but if you get brave you are welcome to visit!

We have a traditional Bjorn-type carrier and The Ultimate Baby Wrap . I loved the UBW because it is so versatile. It was great to nurse a newborn in, and is still great a year later. It is a little complicated, though, and takes practice. My DH doesn't like it and I don't trust DD with it, so they use the Bjorn.
I second going to Baby Wearing sites; there are several; just google it. You'll get all kinds of good info.

I never did figure a good way to carry both, though; we just put one inthe sling and one in an umbrella stroller when we're out alone. That worked out well.

I'm glad that this topic was started because someone gave us a sling and a Baby Bjorn. I can't see myself using a sling because I am a total klutz and have a horrible fear of dropping a baby. I was also looking at babyhawk.com. I figure DH could use the Baby Bjorn and I could use the babyhawk wrap when we need to transport the twins at times. I still have not made up my mind though. Maybe I'll practice with the sling around the house!
