we tried the girls in sleepsacks last night and they worked like a charm! they were able to sleep without any interuptions except when they woke up to eat. other nights it was almost every half hour from 5:30pm till 10pm they were waking up crying.
I'm so happy they like them! Finally something that works for them! We were using miracle blankets but they were getting out of them and didn't sleep as well anyway with them.
My question is to those of you who use/used them. Do you also use them for naps? When do you stop using them? What do you do in the summer without them?
    Thanks!

I agree with you!!! My twins hate having covers on and I felt guilty about them sleeping all night without a cover on so they are the best thing ever!!! I am excited to hear the answers to your questions as I have the same ones.

I do have a question to add (sorry to hijak)...How long did you use the sacks? We're starting to outgrow ours before Mommy is ready to give them up!

We use them for naps too...it was mostly as a cue for the boys that it was "sleepy time", not necessarily for warmth.

No advice about summer, my boys were in miracle blankets last summer, and by this summer we'll be too big for sleep sacks.

We love our sleep sacks too. They only wear them at night. During the day, they have a blanky they like. For the summer, they make cotton sacks. I plan to use them.

I have a friend with a singleton who used her sleep sack until her daughter was two, but, if your child will keep wearing them, they come in sizes for toddlers. My friend liked how the sleep sack kept the baby in the crib as she couldn't climb out while wearing it.

I plan to use them until the babies refuse. We use them at any sleep as part of our routine. It's hard for me to do much of a bed/nap time routine when it is one of me and two of them, so I hope that the sleep sack really signals sleep to them.

I'm glad they are working for you! We only starting using them at about 10 months -- we gave up the MBs at 5 months, but then it was spring/summer, and we didn't start the sleep sacks until it got cold again. But now they are used to them (even though they always fight having them put on), and I'll definitely be using the cotton ones in the summer. (We keep our house fairly cool.) Mine are 14 months now and are in the "large" size, which is still plenty big. But when they are good walkers we might switch to the toddler-style, which has foot holes so they can walk in them. We use them for nighttime and naps.

I only use them at night. I haven't even thought about what to use in the summer. I was wondering what to use after they start walking, I'll have to look at the toddler ones.

We use them at nap and at night. My babies are recovering swaddle-addicts. They make them out lighter material that can be used in warmer weather, especially if you just have them wear a onesie underneath.

Mine still wear sleepsacks. Halo makes them up to 5T (the bigger sizes have foot holes) and they are sleeveless so they don't get too warm. Also, if you ask for the twin discount, Halo gives a 2 for 1 [IMG]

Alden, I think 32" is the minimum "walkable" height on the Big Kid sacks. We had some issues with the extra fabric getting in the way until just recently and I think they're right at 32" now. They still have a lot of fabric around their feet but it's not dragging on the floor anymore. I did write the company suggesting that they offer a 1-2T size for all of the babies who walk before 18 months [IMG]

My dd is still in one, and she's over 2 1/2 years old (about 38/39 inches tall). I get them back home in Europe though. I used to be in one. But she's in the biggest size now. She's already in a twin bed, but still wants to wear it, we tried to get rid of it, since she's using the blanket well, but she seems to like it. We used it for naps as well (just a regular cotton one during summer and a fleece during winter and/or colder days). I started with Halo until she outgrew them and then started buying them back home.

Oh ... and she can walk in them as well.

That's great that they are helping the girls sleep. [IMG] We used sleepsacks for bedtime and naptime until the girls started to stand up in their cribs. It was too hard for them to do with the sacks on so we stopped at that point. Now Halo makes sleepsacks with holes for the feet so that is probably what we will use with this next baby. Sleepsacks go all the way up to size 5T so you don't have to stop using them before you are ready. My girls are 3.5 years old now and are wearing the toddler sleepsacks to bed. [IMG]

In the summer, you can use cotton or polyester quilted sleepsacks. It just depends on the warmth of your house. If you have the air conditioner set high, you'll want something a little thicker.

We use the Halo cotton sleepsacks for nighttime. They also wear blanket sleepers and onesies so they are nice and snuggy.

During the day, they get to have blankets which they love to cuddle with!
