sleepless nights

I just need to whine for a bit. I'm so frustrated. Karina is not sleeping well. She is waking every 20-30 minutes to have paci replaced. No one is getting any sleep around here. This happened for a week a couple of weeks ago and then she went back to STTN and all was well. Now it's happening again. The problem is that she sleeps on a wedge in a Danny Sling for her reflux. When the paci falls out, it rolls down the hill to the foot of the crib. We tried it without the wedge for the early part of last night and she just can't sleep without it. She wakes up choking with milk coming out her nose and it scares her to death. The weird thing is that she naps fine during the day without it. We lie her on her side in a sleep positioner in the PNP. The paci falls out, but it's usually so close that she can root around with her head and use her hand a bit to get it pushed back in. I don't know why she doesn't have the reflux issues during the day, but has them at night. I'd almost be tempted to let her CIO a little bit to see if she will put herself back to sleep without the paci (never thought I'd get to this point), but it wakes up her sister. We are so sleep deprived. This is way worse than babies waking every 2-3 hours. At least then I was getting 1-2 hour stretches of sleep. Last night the longest stretch was 1 hour and I was up every 20-30 minutes otherwise.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

What time are you giving her the reflux meds? Maybe its ok during the day because the meds work well? Just a thought. Also during the day do you feed her and then lay her down to nap or does she play upright a little bit before she lays down for a nap? Maybe you can keep her up for a little while after she eats before bed? GL and hang in there. I wish I had more advice for you. Maybe let her sleep overnight in the pnp? :hug99:

:hug99: Sorry you are back to sleepless nights. Have you thought about putting in a couple of pacis in the crib with her so she can find on if the other one rolls away? Sorry, that's the best idea I had right now. I hope you get it figured out soon, and back to everyone sleeping well.

I dont' have any advice, just :hug99:

Mine do that as well some nights. Within a couple of weeks, we'll have to do CIO. I'm just not quite ready for it yet. Though re-inserting pacis is getting annoying.

She gets the meds twice a day. 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We give the meds right before her bedtime bottle. We hold her upright for 30 minutes after all feedings, so she normally goes down for a nap or to bed 30 minutes after a bottle. We tried the PNP for an overnight and that didn't work either. Thanks for the suggestions though.

We've tried. She just bumps them while she sleeps and they all roll down the incline. She really isn't to the point of being able to pick one up and put it in her mouth anyway. She can only do it if it is very close and lined up the right way.

Yeah. I'm not sure there is anything to do that we haven't already done. I guess we're just going to have to deal with it. She is just starting to roll regularly and I wonder if that is disrupting her sleep even though she can't go anywhere since she's strapped into the Danny Sling. It's so hard to figure out what they need.

I hope you're all able to get some sleep soon, Beth :hug99: .

I think as opposed to getting up every time waiting just a little while to see if she can get herself back to sleep, it may not take as long as you think and it may not wake your other dd-if it does you could try putting other dd in a pnp in a different room until little missy gets the hang of things again. She had it down for a while, she will get back to it.
Good luck, wishing you some good rest soon!

I know what you mean about not wanting her to wake up her sister. That's the hardest part. It's much easier to deal with 1 awake baby.... than 2.

Hope this is a short phase and it passes soon. Maybe don't rush to her side - let her cry for a few minutes and see what happens.
