Has anyone unlocked the combination for a good night of sleep? I have tried pillows, but can't think if anything else that might help. I just think that my body is telling me to get ready to be exhausted on an everyday basis now before the babies come. I would love to just have one night where I am not tossing and turning to find a comfortable spot!

Any advice would be helpful! Thank you!

Sadly the only relief I have found is a bath and my couch! The couch that we have molds to my belly better then my bed ever could. I fall asleep there... Most of the time hubby stays with me for a little while and then heads to bed. I get a good solid 4 hours on the couch.. and then switch to the bed.

:hug99: I remember feeling that way & it seemed impossible to get a good nights sleep, or even 3 hours for that matter!!
It definitely gets you prepared for those late night feedings :)
The best sleep I got was the night before my c-section in the hospital! My dr. gave me an ambien & I was OUT!!! It was WONDERFUL!!
Good luck & just rest when you can :lazy:

My OB told me I could take tylenol pm so I did that a few times week. It helped with the hip pain I had during the night.

The last month or so of my pregnancy, I slept on the couch. I have a big, microfiber sectional, and it was so comfy. I could sleep semi-reclined on my back or on my side. The bed made my back ache too much at that point.

I am in the same boat and have no suggestions. I take an occasional Unisom (maybe once a week if needed) just to help me get some good rest. I usually end up feeling hungover though the next day and I have an 11 month old so...I use lots of pilllows, warm bath, and try to cut back on the liquids after 7-8PM. It never fails that just as I am dozing off I have to get and and pee

Thanks everyone. I didn't know it was safe to take a Tylenol PM during pregnancy. I have an appt. next week, so maybe I will ask at that time. I try to sleep on my left side-is that the correct side? But, either side I sleep on makes my hip hurt after a certain anount of time.

I know what you mean about the getting up to go to the bathroom. Even if I do limit liquids at night, it never fails, I am up at least once during the night. I am just glad that I have learned to get in the bathroom and back out without having to turn the light on! :D

I do think it's your body's way of saying...you better get used to this!! :p

My Tempur-Pedic Mattress is a life-saver!!! This might sound like a commercial but it is wonderful! It is one of those memory foam mattresses. . . The mattresses are not exactly cheap (even though my husband and I got ours for free from a family member) so if you can't get the mattress, I would try the pillows!!I put one under my belly at night. I don't know how good the "knock-offs" of similar brands or you might even try one of those mattresses toppers. . . . I had to go out of town for two nights for work and I got the WORST sleep in the hotel!! I came home and the 1st thing I did was to lay in my BED!! LOL I am so much more comfortable than with my 1st (singleton) pregnancy when I didn't have it, so I can't imagine life without it!!. . .OKay, enough of my commerical LOL

I also have not had a good night sleep in a very long time. I'm at the point now that Tylenol pm doesn't even help me sleep anymore. It just helps relieve some of the back pain that I have. You can also try Benedryl.

I sleep with about 4 pillows, but between feeling uncomfortable and keep getting up to go to the bathroom I never get a fulll night sleep. Last night I got up to go to the bathroom, by the time I back to my bed I had to go again :)

I am already having trouble sleeping. I'm not big yet, but I have been trying to not sleep on my back, or stomach (which is how I used to sleep) I just keep thinking, "if I am having this much trouble now, how am I going to get through the next few months?"

Try a body pillow. Laying on your left side is best for the babies spines, but either side is ok from what I understand. Just don't lay on your back. Laying on your left side, right leg on the body pillow let the body pillow support your weight and kind of lean forward a little so it's comfortable. It's most comfortable with your left arm behind you if you can so it doesn't get squished. You'll have to play with it to make it comfy for you.

Also, prenatal yoga does wonders for a drug free good night sleep. It helps relieve all the aches and pains and relaxes you. They'll also teach you how to lay comfortably.

    Good luck!! :)

I was just checkin' on this board. Ahh..the pregnant days. I am on the other side. I have two 4 month old twins. They are doing great!! Anyway...enough about that. At the end of my pregnancy, after the body pillow didn't work anymore, the couch was a great place to sleep. I would sleep on my left side with my back up against the back of the couch. A pillow between my knees and I hugged another pillow and rested my head on another pillow. It was quite a set-up but I could sleep pretty well that way. And, I could watch some T.V. when I couldn't sleep so it wasn't as bad. I also think that I was sleeping so lightly that everytime my husband would move or make a noise, that would wake me up and then I couldn't get back to sleep. Hang in there!! It's all worth it!

I'm not sure if you can get this in USA, but I got this pillow wedge that looks like a door wedge (those rubbery stuff that helps u hold the door open?) and it worked well for me by supporting my belly when I'm sleeping on one side. As for meds, I was given piriton for itch (for a rash that's apparently induced by pregnancy hormones) and I took it the first time last night...FOR THE FIRST TIME I SLEPT LIKE A BABY!!!!
