Sleeping?!

Yesterday we had pretty much the same schedule - get up at 8 and then eat every 3 hours or so (with 3 or 4 naps) and go to bed after the 8 p.m. feeding. My LOs had been sleeping anywhere between 5 - 7 hours at night.

Well last night was different! They woke up at 1230, 330, 545 and we finally got up at 730....

Does this happen periodically? Could they be going through a growth spurt? They were 3 months old on Friday. (I can't get my ticker to work for my signature - have to work on that later!)

I EBF them at night and during the day give them BM first and then a bottle. They had been doing so well with sleeping - I thought it would get better, not worse!

Any suggestions? Or words of encouragement?

    Thanks!

Sounds like they could be going through a growth spurt. Hopefully they will go back to their "old habits" soon for you.

When my girls turned 4 months they stopped sleeping long stretches and started waking up to eat every three hours through the night... for almost a month and half! Hopefully this won't happen to you, but I hear its sort of common around that age.
Three to Four months are pretty common ages for growth spurts so this could be why they are waking up and eating. Do they sleep in your room? My girls slept in my room until recently (uh, like two weeks ago!) and as soon as I moved one out, she slept soooo much longer and didn't wake up as often. I just moved the other babe in there this weekend - I think it helps when they don't see you or smell you (it's true! when bfing).

Could be growth spurt, could be they are going to get ready and do something new developmentally as well like rolling over.
Ahh the joys of nighttime parenting. This too shall pass :)

Our DDs went through this as well around 4 months which is a common time for sleep regression to occur. At the time, I had no idea such a thing existed. I always thought their sleep would continue to improve, not get worse! I think it was a combination of all the growing and the fact breastmilk gets digested quicker than formula. Unfortunately, it took about a month and a half for them to start sleeping through the night.

Hang in there. Every child is different so maybe you'll get past this really soon!

Unfortunately, just as you get them into a good "schedule", it usually goes out the window for one reason or another! Teething, growth spurt, developmental spurt....always something! Hang in there, this too shall pass!

I think my little ones are about the same age as yours. It is funny about a week and a half ago they started sleeping for 5-7 hour stretches. I got sooo excited. Then, the past 2 nights they wake up every 3-4 hours. I am guessing it is a growth spurt... but it sucks! Also, they have been crying more frequently throughout the night. Is it possible they could be teething? How soon do babies get teeth?
