I am so ready for my girls to sleep through the night! (at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep) My pedi said to expect it to start around 5 to 6 weeks and since they are close to 5 weeks old I'm hoping for the best! The way I'm doing it right now is if one baby wakes in the night I feed her and then I wake the other baby so I don't know if I had ever let the 2nd baby sleep if she would have slept for 6 hours or more. So I was wondering, how old were your babies when they slept through the night for the first time? So far the longest my girls have gone is 4 hours.

I tried to create a poll but I've never done it before so I don't know if I did it correctly...

Mine are 9 weeks and have never gone more than 5 hours in a row, they will go 6 hours without eating from 8-2-2:30ish but never are asleep before 9. They were born full term as well.

It was almost 9 months before the boys were totally STTN.

My two were doing a full 6/7 hour stretch at around 6 weeks old. Usually waking once, sometimes twice for a bottle...From about 3 months to 7 months they were waking once a night to eat, usually around 4am. They started STTN at 7 months...a full 12 hours. Going to bed at 7pm and waking at 7am.

we were getting a consistant 5-6 hours at about 8 weeks (which would be 6 we-eks from their Due Date) -- but at about 10 weeks, that stretched to a consistant 7 1/2 to 8 hour strech (they go to bed at 7pm, and wake between 2 and 3 am) -- go down, and are back up at around 6:30/7am.

I heard that if you are bf (which I don't know if you are or not) that you shouldn't let a baby go more than 5 hours without eating until they are 6-8wks old. My girls started doing 6 hours at night when they were about 10wks old. They were doing 2 four hour naps before that and then moved up to one 6 hour nap followed by a feeding and then right back to bed for another 3 1/2 hours. I also feed them at the same time whether or not they are both are awake, so it is hard to tell how long each could go. I can't wait for 8 consecutive hours, how nice will that be! Best of luck to you and your little ones:)

Mine are formula fed and 3 months old. They sleep about 10 hours. One started sleeping about 8 hrs (8 pm - 4 am) at about 8 weeks. The other would sleep 4-5 hrs max before needing a feeding. I never woke my long sleeper just because his brother was awake. Now they are both on the same schedule and going 10 hours. Yeah!

I can't rememebr when they started going 6+ hours ... one of mine is going 10-13 hours now ... she started last week ... at 4 months (3 months corrected) ... my other one is often going 7-8 hours. It seemed they started sleeping longer when we started our bedtime routine ... we do the same thing every night ... nurse, bath, lotion/PJ/swaddle (well, one has graduated the swaddle and is in a sleep sack and the other one has an arm out of her swaddle), rock to sleep ... we have done this since they were about 2 months old. I would be getting great sleep if I would go to bed around 8 like they do, but I NEED my ME time!!!

Around 3/4 weeks - but that doesn't mean they did it consistently! DD sleeps through usually, but DS is up once a night for a midnight snack!

They were about 7-8 weeks when they started going 5-6 hour stretches. Then it became 7, then 8 and then 12 hrs by 4 mo. My daughter was doing 10 hrs by 9 wks.

I distinctly remember when it happened the first time. David was in the hospital (he had a high fever) and when I talked to DH at home, he said William had slept for 5 hrs straight. I cried. I was like "What did you do? We need to do that every day!"

I believe the 1st time the girls slept through was at about 3.5 months old. It happened for two nights and then only once more before about 9 months old. We started weaning them off the night bottles at 7 months old and they were sleeping consistently through the night at 10 months.

Now Dax is another matter...

This may not be what you want to hear but my one dd didn't start sleeping through the night until 7 months or so and my other dd didn't start sleeping through the night on a regular basis (well, semi regular basis) until 14 months!!! My girls were just horrible horrible sleepers and they have NEVER slept 12 hours like so many babies I hear do. My girls have always slept 10-10.5 hours at the most which is great but it took FOREVER to get there. I honestly thought I was going to lose my mind because every night for 14 months, I kept saying "God, I hope this is the night." I think maybe it could have happened earlier for me but I just wasn't ready for CIO and would go in to comfort them if I heard they were awake even though they weren't really crying. At around 13-14 months, I finally wised up and now it's better but I still hear my one dd wake up fairly often and she will just play in her crib and talk and sing to herself and then eventually go back to sleep (as do I).

My girls slept 4.5 hrs straight Tues night and 4 hrs straight Wed night, I was psyched! Then Thurs night they were up almost every hour!
I cant wait for good sleeps and some normalcy during the day.

I was very blessed with my oldest DD, when it came to sleeping. She was sleeping straight thru the night at 4 weeks...like a crazy 10-12 hours. Now with the twins we are just now trying to let them sleep in their cribs at 9 weeks and they can go about 5 hours of straight sleep during the night.

my god...doI need to sleep!!! this is the first time I havebeen able to get online sincemy boy were born ( now 4 weeks old). They sleep about 3 hour stretch, and are better day sleepers then night. I'm also breast feeding/breast milk bottle....trying to find a balance has been really hard. I was told to feed every 3 hours ( my boys were born at 33 weeks, 2 days NICU grower and feeders), so they really can't sleep more then 3 hour stretch. But I'm really looking for some guidance now that I will not have night help (my hubby is back at work).
