Out of not-so-idle curiousity, how many of you who weren't breastfeeding, had babies who didn't sleep through the night until after 1 y/o??

Were they eating at night or not?

I ask b/c one of my g/f's has a 24 lb 11 mo/old who wakes up 2x/night and east btn 8-12 oz overnight.... It seemed crazy to me but my kiddos are good sleepers for the most part

Mine were formula fed and slept through starting at 3 months, and that is 12-13 hours a night.

Mine were FF too, and I had one who woke at night until 13 months. From about 3-6 months she woke twice for feedings (1 and 4 a.m.), then from 6-13 months she woke just at 4 a.m.

Towards the end I'm sure it was habit, but I tried at 9 months to break her of it (gradual watering down of bottle, then CIO) and it didn't work -- she cried for an hour for a few nights in a row and I caved. At 13 months I tried again (watering down the bottle, but no CIO) and she gave it up on her own after a couple of weeks of that. She was a good sleeper other than that.

If your friend is open to advice, you might suggest that she make those nighttime bottles smaller, a bit at a time.

Mine still wake up at night and drink about 8 oz. They are getting better(down to once or twice a night). We have tried everything. It wasn't always this way at 2 1/2 months they started sleeping thru the night but at around 7 or 8 months they started waking in the night again and we haven't been able to remedy it. Mine are perfectly happy to suck a empty bottle most of the time too [IMG]

Mine were BF for 2 months and then bf/ff for another month... They started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks (8hrs) and a few weeks later they were sleeping 12hrs..... They might wake up everynow and then and want a glass of water now but they go right back to bed.

Mine were formula fed and were always big babies. DS did not sleep through the night till 11 months! DD was sleeping through at 4 months. I think it depends on the baby.

My boys have slept through the night ever since I stopped BF'ing at 9 months.

They do however go to bed with a full bottle of milk that they drink throughout the night. I got sick of getting up at 4am to give them a bottle.
I know this is bad for their teeth, but my babes are so teeny (16.5 and 17.5 lbs at 13 mos) that I like knowing they are getting something extra.

They will only wake in the night if they are sick but once they are better they go back to sleeping a solid 12 hours.

My girls started sleeping through the night (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) at 4 and 4 1/2 months old. They got about 75% breastmilk and 25% formula until they were three months, when we switched over entirely to formula. They've been sleeping 12-13 hours a night since 6 months old, usually 6 p.m.to 6 or 6:30 a.m.

I BF Emily exclusively until 15 months. At 6 years old she still wakes in the night to go the washroom and get some water. (Don't most of us?) At least she doesn't wake us up!

I exclusively BF Zack and Bree until 6 months and now Zack who refuses alternate feeding methods is 100% BF and BREE IS 25% BF and 75% FF (daddy does her night feeding - yah). At eight months depending on illness, teething etc they wake anywhere from 2 to 5 times. I wonder what the future holds for us?
