New here at first year. My boys Dillon and Lucas are two days old. I am having trouble sleeping when they sleep b/c I worry every little noise will turn into a full blown out cry. How do I get past this. I have had babies before, just has been so long and with the two of them...twice the noise lol I should be in bed. They shouldn't need to eat for about 45 minutes but all the little noises have kept me awake and got up to take some pain meds for my back and ended up here. Hubby of course is sleeping through the little noises, which is great, he has to go to work at 7am. We will be alone all day tomorrow, so no sleep isn't going to help the situation. Any who...just wondering if anyone has any advice or if I just need to get use to it.

Firstly congratulations on your babies. Well the advice I can give you is to try and get use to it. I called it my mommy sleep because even though they are now sleeping through the night I still wake up everytime I hear them, and they are in their own room and I close my door!!!!. I guess its something us new mommies get when they are born. Dad of course has neer heard them cry at night even when they were at it at full volume. go figure, men!!

What is it with men? lol Right now they are in our room, but I think even in another room b/c of the monitor it would still be the same. I guess after a few more nights home it might get better. At least I have had time to catch up on stuff online LOL

I still do the same thing! You'll get used to it though, and you'll be able to grab a bit of sleep here and there. Yesterday, I slept sprawled out on the living room floor while the boys were in the bouncy and the swing right next to me! :)

    Congrats on your twins!

I still do the same thing and my boys are five months old and STTN. I keep wondering when I am going to get a good night's sleep. But here I sit at 5:40 a.m. on the computer. I woke up at about 3:30 and can't go back to bed! Hope you get some good sleep soon.

I was the same way until I got so tired I could sleep. It does get better, but it takes time. I still find myself listening for them all the time, but I can actually get some sleep. The first few nights home I was up ALL night - if they were making noise, I'd worry about them and if they were quiet I'd worry about why they were so quiet!

Well I do feel better knowing I am not the only one. Thought I was, I don't know, just going to far. Going to try hard to get a nap after their next bottle. I know my emotions will get the best of me later if I don't get some sleep. Don't want to break down crying when my hubby comes home later from work lol

Congratulations on your boys! I also had a really hard sleeping when they slept, until sheer exhaustion hit and then I could sleep standing up. But that doesn't answer your question... Can you split the night and sleep for part of the night in another room while your DH stays with the boys and then switch? My DH used to keep the girls in a pnp in the living room until after their 11pm feeding so I could sleep alone in our room from 8 to midnight. GL and congratulations again!!!

    woohoo!!! Congrats on your boys!!!

I share a bedroom with my girls and I have found that the white noise helps me sleep a little better too. I wake up if they even shift!

    Good luck!!

That is something to look into, thanks for the suggestion.

I do sleep better with white noise, but can't use what I was using now. I have a fan I run, heavy duty one...helps me sleep so good, but drops the temp of our room a lot, so can't be used with the babies in there.

Congrats on your New Little Baby Boys!
I know people say get sleep while they are sleeping but, sometimes that is impossible. Finally my husband and I did shifts so we both could get quality sleep because we both were going insane without any.
But, right now I still am soo crazy when it comes to the babies! They sleep through the night but, I'm up 3-4 times a night checking to make sure they are still breathing. We bought the angel monitors and used them until they were 4 months old that gave us some peace of mind too.
Take care of yourself & Congrats Again!
