I'm just curious if it is ok to let the babies sleep on their tummys at 6 mos. They can roll from their backs to their tummys, but not back over. So, they usually end up on their tummys all day anyway. But we haven't put them to bed that way... usually they just fall asleep on their backs. The reason I'm asking, is because during the day, we let them nap on their tummys and they seem to sleep better but we've been a little nervous to put them down for the night that way. Am I making sense?

Once my girls were able to roll over from back to tummy I let them sleep on their tummies. They are much happier that way!

With my oldest the pedi said when they can roll over to their tummies there really isn't anything you can do about it so just to let them. I still never put her on her tummy to sleep, but she always woke up that way.

my dr said the same thing, don't put them to bed on their tummy, but if they roll over then so be it. Ours have been rolling over and sleeping either on their side or tummy for a few weeks now.

We started putting ours on the tummy at 4 months. I never told my pedi. I figured if they could push their upper body then they could handle it. They sleep soooo good!

I put mine on their backs and, many times, they roll onto their tummies anyway. They are doing well sleeping that way.

I put them to sleep on their backs. When mine would roll over onto their tummy on their own, I would let them sleep like that :)

My boys slept on their backs until 4 months. And in that dreaded carseat... Anyways! They always slept on their back. One night, Anthony wailed and would not go to sleep. I did everything I could think of-and finally just laid him down on his stomach-and he's been sleeping that way ever since. He was able to pick his head up really well and turn it from side to side without a problem-so I didn't worry. Nicholas moves SO much-he's crazy. I will put him on his stomach, then he ends up on his side, but almost always ends up back on his stomach with that cute little butt up in the air. Love it! Soooo cute!

I think once they have good head control and can lift it well-you should be all set. We also didn't tell the pedi! ;)

Mine actually started sleeping well when we started putting them on their stomach to sleep at 4 months old. Now both still sleep on their stomachs.

Mine have just learned to roll from back to tummy so we just put them to sleep on their stomachs b/c they end up that way anyway. ^_^
