Sleeping Issues, what does your pedi say?

Sleeping issues is obviously a big first year topic. My Mom is an RN in a pedi office, she is the one you get to talk to on the phone when you call with questions, so has fielded this subject for over 20 years. I know what she and the Dr.s in her office tell Moms to do, but if you have asked, what does your Dr. office tell you?

Well, I see Dr. Weissbluth ... so after being a mom for 3 years I pretty well know what he'll say!

Early bed times, regular naps, sleep begets sleep, ...

Mine says let them "figure it out" for 10 minutes and then go and and soothe and try again. This was in response to my 3.5 month olds. He also says sleep begets sleep and good naps, etc....

Mine says, routine, routine, routine and early bedtimes. We do both and so far its working.

Mine said not to expect too much until they are about 14 pounds. I have actually gotten more consistent with their schedules and am finally noticing a daytime pattern and they are now sleeping about 7-8 hours. Breena weighs 13 pounds and her sister is probably around 11.
